Duval Street History
Duval Street

It is a well-known business district money-making zoned street in Key West. It runs from north to south of the bay of Mexico to the Atlantic Ocean. From seashore, the street is just over 1.25 miles in length. It was named after the first governor of Florida William Pope Duval

In 2012 the American Planning Association named Duval Street as the greatest Avenue. There is a mix of early Key West Victorian mansions and bungalows dotting the neighborhood on the Atlantic Ocean end of Duval Street. Though this end of Duval is more residential and less filled with tourists, the foot-ways still hustle and bustle with doings.

Duval Street well represents the cultural pressure of Key West's propinquity and cultural ties to Cuba. In the late 1860s, many Cubans immigrated to the area. There are many pleasant open air cafes to take pleasure in on Cuban Product.

It was after a decision met with disagreements from people who felt it would interrupt the ritual of enjoying watching the sunset at Mallory Square They passed an ordinance requiring the ship to leave two hours before sunset. This helped them return after sunset without additional docking fee

Earnest Hemingway House

It was Hemingway's home from 1931 to 1939, though he retained named to the home until he died.[1] It is one of the tourist attraction in Key West and is a private for business related t landmark.His son Patrick lived in the house. In 1994 he stated in an interview that his father, he had peacocks in the key west, and he owned cats in Cuba
