Duty Of Care: Safeguarding Policies
Duty of care means to do every act within policies, procedures and agreed way of working of the employer for the safety and well being of the people who are using your services. You need to be clear what the nature of the care or support is that you are providing, and on which the person is relying. The law requires all professionals to take proper care in carrying out their work to ensure that appropriate standards of care are met. Failure to provide proper care in that situation may lead to harm others.
For example in my job roll, as a carer it is my duty to ensure that the service users I care for are safe, protected from abuse by other service users, staff , carers, friends and family. I therefore need to work within the safeguarding policies
