Dr. J.K. Mc Clain and other members of the cardiology department consulted on the patient. They felt that his hypoxia and breathlessness were not secondary to his cardiac status. He had supraventricular cardiac arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter. The cardiology staff utilized intravenous medications that controlled the cardiac rate, adequately resolving these cardiac issues. I managed the patient’s ventilator in intensive care status along with my respiratory therapy team. Unfortunately the patient developed multiple infections, hospital acquired, including Klebsiella pneumonia infection and…

In the essay “The Embalming of Mr. Jones,” (1963), Jessica Mitford is describing a procedure of embalming of a corpse. She writes that people pay a ton of money each year, but “not one in ten thousand has any idea of what actually takes place,” and it is extremely hard to find books and any information about this subject. She assumes that it must be a reason for such secrecy, and may be if people knew more about this procedure, they would not want this service after their death.…

Have you ever put something unvaluable over something that was valuable over something extremely valuable but it took you awhile to realize? The story “Contents of the Dead…
The theme that I have chosen is death. I chose this theme because death plays a part in Andy's life and it plays a part in Henry's life. It affects us all in our lives because people die all the time and people go through hard a time when people die and that's what happens in the book. I will be explaining how death is used in the book from the First World War and during the present day.…

Deciding if a work literature is fantasy proves to be a daunting task for any scholar. There are plenty of elements, themes, and motifs that furnish the fantasy genre as a whole, and Neil Gaiman’s The Graveyard Book without question encompasses a number of these. Through the lens of magic, the battle of good versus evil, and the presence of hope The Graveyard Book delivers a taste of fantasy literature, while also supporting the elements of the new mythology for global humanity by rediscovering harmony, bridging the past with the future.…
People enjoy watching movies related to our own destruction or the end of the world. It seems that having the sensation that our destiny is to try to survive from an apocalypses, zombies or monsters is very interesting to people. This sensation is because “monsters can stand as symbols of human vulnerability and crisis, and such they play imaginative foils for thinking about our own responses to menace” (Asma, 2016). The movie “ Dawn of the Dead” is a good example of how a group of people coexisting within a mall tries to deal with each other’s personalities and behaviors, and how they fight against the zombies in order to survive. Also, this movie is a reflection of how people would react towards an event that paralyzes the world. Finally, movies about the destruction of the humanity transmit that most of these events start all of the sudden; In other words, humans are not prepare to deal with it because they did not expect it.…

When I read Chronicle of a Death Foretold by Colombian novelist Gabriel Garcia Marquez for the first time, I was initially not impressed by the book. I found the story to be uninteresting and predictable, like something that came from a Spanish soap opera. After reading the first few pages of the book, I already deduced that the man who was murdered in the story was the result of a marriage gone horribly wrong because the bride was not a virgin. That a bride who loses her virginity before marriage is a taboo that still persists in some parts of Latin America. By the time I finished reading the novel, I could not figure out the significance of this book. It was not until I learned more about the role of the characters and what they are supposed to represent, the event Marquez based on the story on, and how his cultural background is…
In the essay The Loss of the Creature, by Walker Percy he starts off talking about Garcia Lopez de Cardenas discovering the Grand Canyon as an example of symbolic complex. Symbolic complex defined throughout the essay is describing the ideal situation and hopes one might expect during a new experience. While visiting the Grand Canyon, one might have high expectations such as a man from Boston while planning his trip. He planned a two-week trip with his family. This man falls into the trap of symbol complex by the author stating, “But it is more likely that what he has done is the one sure way not to see the canyon.” (page 298) The next concept that is brought up is recovering from symbolic complex. He goes on to share a few examples of how…
