I am running for this position due to the fact that I feel that Student Council is an important part of a school’s function. I believe that students should have a voice for decisions in school. I feel by running for Sergeant at Arms that I can bring Junior opinions to Senior officers.
In your opinion, what is the role of a student leader in school?
In my opinion, there are many roles that a student leader must presume such as representing the students and informing students. However, the main role for a student leader is to be an example for those around them. They must do this as it sets a standard for how other kids react. If they lead in the right way,

First, I am a strong leader because I have had experience over the years in leading people. Whether it be captain of my soccer team, or being in Student Council for over five years, I have always be raised as a leader which has helped me develop my skills. With my leadership skills, I have helped lead soccer camps and other community service outreaches. Secondly, my school spirit always is always a strong category for me. I always put the best effort I can into my spirit wear, even if it may be absurd. Last year, I received the most spirited Freshman in Student Council and my spirit has not stopped there. This year, I have won the spirit fashion show contests at lunch both times this year. Also, I even created the hashtag lsnspirit to show off our spirit at Lee’s Summit North. Lastly, I take pride in my dependability. This year in Student Council, I have not received a demerit for any reason. I take pride in this and I plan to continue this as in the past two years I have a positive merit status. Furthermore, my dependability is also very flexible. I am able to switch around my schedule just to make time for any Student Council obligation. Overall, due to leadership, school spirit, and dependability, I will assure you that I will be a productive member of Student

Leadership is a lifestyle, not a role one adopts. Leadership requires strength and power, but also the ability to empathize and recognize others' needs. As a high school student, I have had many opportunities to be a leader, whether it be through clubs, group projects, or extracurricular activities. During my Junior year, I assistant directed the play Steel Magnolias under the eye of my drama teacher as well as a college student director. This role allowed me to learn the ropes of directing as well as take care of the six girls cast in the show. I adapted the role of the "stage mom," making sure every hair was curled to perfection and every prop was in its place, as well as ensuring their lines were memorized and their staging was proper. I believe that leadership is important because you always need someone to step up and lead others down the right path. Leaders help others to succeed and be the best version of themselves. Without leaders, children would not have role models to look up to and would not know right from wrong. I try to be a leader by being kind to everyone and by making good decisions. I always try to lift people up when they are down and encourage them to never give up. I was also recently nominated to take a leadership class through Southeastern Community College. Last year, part of the group and I went to a leadership conference. The leadership conference also helped me look a leadership in a different way. The speakers taught me what it takes to be a great leader. During the conference I learned that every leader has six characteristics and they are resilience, flexibility, communication, courage, humility and presence, and responsibility. I feel that I have almost all of those characteristics and that if the National Honor Society makes these characteristics its main focus, we can accomplish anything we face. If I were accepted into National Honor Society, I would try my best to be one of the best leaders in our school because we need great leaders. Also, I would pour my heart and soul into this group because I care for everyone in the school, and whenever I see anyone struggling, I try my best to help that person and that situation, without causing even more problems for that person. In addition, I would put the other student’s needs in front of my own because that was great leaders do. I would try my best to get involved with my community and the people in it. I would try to start service projects to further our…

Leadership is one of the most important traits to have not only in school but outside too. In school, one can take up the position of being a leader by tutoring classmates. By helping a peer understand a topic they were confused about, a feeling of accomplishment and happiness comes along. One can also be a leader by being a part of a club and helping the club officers and other members reach their club goals. For example, I am part of the Environmental Club and I have been an active member since freshmen year. I have participated in many of the events put together by this club and have helped them in planning these events to ensure things run smoothly.
