Dumalock

Dumalock is a D.I.Y wall tiling product which makes the job of building or renovating a kitchen or bathroom easy, as well as cutting costs and minimising time on the job. It is a European designed and made product and is available from AB building products. The product comes in 1200mm long panels, 250mm high and 10mm thick. It is a patented connection system with four sides that have tongue and grooves, which can be installed in parallel or in correlation. The panels are very light as a result from being made out of PVC, and as a result from joining the panels together there is no need for grouting at all. It also comes in a variety of colours to suit the buyers taste.

The installation process is simple. It can practically be put on any base surface you can think of. For example if it’s on a timber framework it can be stapled or nailed and if on an existing wall, for example with tiles it can be glued straight onto it.

Usually a replacement for tiles it can be used in both residential and commercial wet areas and kitchens. More and more people are doing so because of how easy it is to install and saving costs at the same time. This product complies with the BCA and AS 3740 as use in wet areas as it is made out of PVC and the joins are filled up with a waterproof silicone or gap filler to keep the water out and avoiding damage. It is also class A fire rated. Dumalock panels have an insulating value of R 2.25, which is comparable to a normal brick.
The cost of this product is also alot cheaper than your normal ceramic tiles. With prices starting from $45m2 it is very cost effective compared to your ceramic tiles which can range from anywhere between $5 and $200+ m2. As well as the savings on the product also have to take into account the labour is far less than tiling and grouting and that’s where the savings can be far greater.
