Throughout this chapter, is about the mood differences in the bunkhouse. In the bunkhouse each person brings a different mood. For example, when George and Lennie meet their soon to be boss George tells Lennie not to say a word. This chapter has a multiple feelings caused by the presence of two characters on the ranch, which are Curley and his wife. While George can see the problems that may happen, Lennie can feel the frustrating atmosphere. For example, after Curly indicates the size of Lennie as a big guy but lacking in intelligence, he makes it a point to single out Lennie as someone who should speak when spoken to. Lennie then knows the intensity, and sees Curley as a bully. When Lennie realizes what he can physically do, then he will…

However, looking deeper into this complex character, one realizes that Duddy 's morally repugnant behavior is due to the influence of a corrupt society, the desperation for approval from his family, and a void of a respectable role model when growing up. Contrary to popular belief, Duddy 's notions on friendships are not as dysfunctional as many perceive them to be: "A friend is a friend. You 've got to trust somebody..." (Page 209) in fact, he is more naïve than sly, often not knowing what actions of his were offending. In his relationship with Yvette and Mr. Friar, he cared for them in the best way he knew how to, that is, ensuring that Yvette was properly taken care off when he was away, and providing financial support for Mr.…

The VARK questionnaire: How do I learn best? Helps to identify the specific learning style of an individual. This can aid the student or teacher in improving the learning process. The questionnaire asks the user to answer the questions by indicating their preference to certain scenarios. This information is then used to formulate a learning style. There is a caution to this survey that reiterates to the user that results indicate preferences not strengths (Flemming & Bonwell, 2015). This is important as the user may have a preference for visual formats but art may not be their strength. The author of this paper took this survey prior to reading the aforementioned caution and the results puzzled him. The results were not as expected, but once reviewed and compared to the most effective instruction platforms for the author it was clear that the author was truly multimodal in his learning style. By exploring the multimodal learning style and the accompanying learning strategies coupled with an individual’s learning strategies one can be more aware of the benefits of learning styles and preferences and their impact on learning.…

After watching Randy Pausch’s speech, the “Last Lecture: Achieving Your Childhood Dreams,” there were three visual aids that he used to guide his speech. One of them was the vest with the arrows sticking out of his back. He explained it was an emblem representing his journey when he was teaching a pioneering course. He said to the audience that if one tries to take on pioneering that they “will get those arrows in the back.” The point he was getting at was the fact that you will face obstacles and at one point in time everything will seem to be going wrong, “you just got to put up with it.” It ties back towards the end of his speech when he gave the advice of “Don’t complain, just work harder,” and I believe that was what he wanted to explain with the arrows in the back because despite the arrows one can power through struggles and succeed.…
