They had a particularly unfortunate upbringing that stripped them of having even the slightest of opportunities that I partake in today. For example, my father did not even finish grade school in Mexico due to the extreme circumstances his family faced. At the time it was more important for him to acquire a job and support his family than continue his education. In spite of the fact that both my parents illegally immigrated to this country 40 years ago, leaving behind their family, home and belongings in search of a better life for themselves and their children. If I were to receive this award it would immensely aid me in beginning my one-year enrollment at McLennan Community College, where I plan to work toward earning credits that are transferable to the University of Texas, McCombs School of Business. Once I have enrolled at McCombs School of Business I intend to achieve a bachelor’s in International Business and a Master’s in Technology Commercialization. Subsequently from graduating business school with honors, I will go on to achieve my law degree. My ultimate goal is to be a successful lawyer that takes on more pro-bono cases than anyone in my firm.
