Drunk Driving Persuasive Speech
Intro There’s 300,000 incidents of drinking and driving every day. If a person makes a stupid mistake, not even a paramedic or hospital, can save a person from being ignorant. Driving while impaired isn’t okay. There are several people out there that would take a person's home or a place that person could stay,and that’s why we continue to have cabs as well. Drinking in general has such a bad impact on the body over time. People tend to drink/drink and drive, to seem cool, regardless to the effects,dangers and reason’s not to in the end. In the end a person, finds out why drinking in general isn’t good for a person as he/she may feel capable to drink and drive as well. Keeping secrets from parents when you’re attending a party with alcohol, should remain as a bad idea as well. Drunk Driving affects and hurts many people across the world. In 2014, 9,967 people were killed from impaired driving.As 6,391 of those crashes/death had a 63% BAC of .08 or higher. Not only should that individual do it for your safety but, for others safety because, not only hurting yourself, also hurting others. Drunk Driving affects and hurts many people across the world. As you can see, drunk driving doesn’t only affect you as a person, it affects others, and you’re also breaking a law and can be fined for it as well.     Consequences of drunk driving are vast. The worst of them being killing of the innocent. Teenage drunk drivers put themselves and every other person on the road in danger. It has only been within the past 20 years that as a nation, we have begun to recognize the dangers associated with drunk driving (Sutton 463). According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, this year 519,000 people, or one person per minute, will be injured in alcohol-related accidents. 10,839 people will die in drunk-driving crashes this year – that is one death every 50 minutes. The heartbreaking part is, every injury and lost life due to driving after drinking can be prevented. Drinking while driving “accidents” are not merely “accidents.” Getting in a vehicle after consuming alcohol, which severely affects the function of the brain, is not an accident. It is lack of responsibility. Individuals that consume alcohol irresponsibly must begin to take responsibility for themselves and for other innocent drivers on the road. Unfortunately, in spite of great progress, alcohol-impaired driving remains a serious national problem that tragically affects many victims annually (Hanson). It is time that laws and consequences for drinking while driving strengthen and people begin to think twice before driving a vehicle after drinking. Individuals who make the decision to drive after consuming alcohol, not only put themselves in a dangerous situation, they also put an entire community at risk. Current laws, which are not strict or powerful enough, must be increased in order to keep our neighborhoods around the nation safe.
