Driver's Fatigue Analysis
The first set of Hours of Service (HOS) enforcement started in 1938. The Interstate Commerce Commission (ICC) enforced the first set of HOS rules. The rules created working hours to anyone operating a commercial motor vehicle (CMV). Nevertheless, Hours of Service (HOS) formed to help regulate the working hours and driving hours of a motor carrier. Presented the main purpose of HOS is to prevent accidents caused by driver’s fatigue. By enforcing the service of the HOS, carriers accomplish driving a limited number of hours per day, and limited driving hours per week. While operating the CMV, carriers require a record of working hours using a log book. Log books, contains grid patterns on each page, dividing them into 15-mintue segments.
