Driscoll's Model Of Structured Reflection
This assessment will reflect on my professional development specifically how my knowledge and skills have improved in clinical practice in relation to patient airway management. It will do this by explaining why reflection is important and use aspects of Driscoll's, (2007) Model of Structured Reflection to show my professional development. According to Ghaye and Lilleyman (2010) re-flective practice can transform healthcare professional’s experiences by turning them into strengths that allow actions to be taken as a result. Therefore, for the purpose of this reflection Driscoll’s, (2007) Model of Structured Reflection has been chosen as it uses an experimental learning cycle with added trigger questions that act as prompts as shown in the appendix. The model allows professional experiences to be described, analysed and interpreted so that the learning can be positively applied to future practice. Additionally, in order to respect a person’s right to confidentially all locations will remain anonymous in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), (2008) code of conduct.

    In this reflection, I have utilized Gibbs (1988) Reflective cycle. This cyclical model is a recognized framework to assist with a critical reflection on practice. I chose to use this cycle because it will improve my nursing practice continuously, and learning from the experience for better and improved practice. Gibbs (1988) reflective model consists of six stages.
