Dreamweaver Lessons Paper

Web/240

The Adobe Dreamweaver first lesson was basically an introduction to the software, in which it showed the user how to access the files lesson, and to open up said files. The lesson also went in a little detail about the use of adding images into your code, by adding it to the live view portion of the window, it automatically adds the required code so that the user doesn’t have to do so. It also showed the user how to add “alt” descriptions for the image as well, I’m assuming that in cause the image doesn’t show up on the browser, then there will be a descriptive text of what is supposed to be shown. The second lesson of Dreamweaver went over two different ways to create a new site, look at the site settings and how to create servers to connect to a remote location.

The third lesson was adding text and images to the web pages to create an interactive and immersive experience for the user. We used the dw lesson 3 files, and added pictures of beets and cucumbers to the example site. I added pictures by means of the drop down menu add images or you can select from a the files on the right hand side of the files, and drag and drop the required image that you want put into the web page. Chapter 18, went into detail about saving your work to the cloud, so that you can access your files from anywhere with the cloud. The chapter also explains that DW is compatible with HTML5 as well as CSS3. Although, this is a new software for me to use, I think that I will be accustomed to using it once I get more and more familiar with it. I think that it is a great idea to be able to drag and drop rather than typing in all the coding, which is what the textbooks have taught me to do so far. Dreamweaver is probably going to eliminate a lot of the manual coding that is needed when creating a website, so I believe that this may make a developer/programmer become lax if they don’t practice at times.

I begin my lesson by explaining what the lesson objectives are, what I’m looking for in the students and the success criteria. (See lesson plans) These are given to the students both verbally and visually. The next part of the lesson will usual entail a Power point on the subject been studied or a group activity/discussion. The students will then complete the work set and the lesson will finish with a self or group question and answer session for the plenary. In my lessons I use a lot of Power points, cut and paste worksheets or match the item with its description as I find that students relate to the pictures more as they tend to be more visual and kinaesthetic learners. All the resources I use are brightly coloured and easy to follow; this is to keep students engaged within the lesson, because if they were too complicated the students would lose interest.…

Lesson 1 was a great introduction into what Dreamweaver is, how it is designed and its layout, who uses it, and how it is used to create sites. Here the various features of the application and their functions were described in great detail. Lesson 1 was about getting to know Dreamweaver from its opening page to all the features that are included within the application. Lesson 2 became a little more “involved”. What this means is that it went more in depth about using Dreamweaver. Some of the features that were explained were creating a site, adding pages, and defining page properties. When we arrive in Lesson 3, it is introducing even more detail into Dreamweaver CC. Here we learn about adding text, creating hyperlinks, inserting images, formatting images, and much more. By the end of Lesson 3 it is possible that you can create a very basic site at this time. At the end of Lessons 1 through 3, any individual should feel comfortable enough to create the basic steps of creating a site. At the minimum an individual should at least know how to open Dreamweaver CC and create the beginning of a site. Some of the easier steps learned through these lessons were inserting text and images. Some aspects of Dreamweaver that an…

The learners have prior knowledge of using icons to edit content, they know how to navigate websites and apply these skills to create their own website. The instructor demonstrates how to perform tasks and models integrating technology into instruction. This helps the learners develop strategies that they can apply to creating their website and integrating it into their own instruction. There are some behaviorist strategies used, all learners must include specific content on their Home Page, they must also learn how to use the copyright decision making tool and apply this to all content on their website. A constructivist strategy is used when learners use a collaborative Excel file to share their prior knowledge of the elements of a good website to create a checklist. As learners develop their websites, there will be more constructivist strategies applied, since the end product is intended to be a personalized reflection of their knowledge, personality and teaching…
