Dreamland Informative Essay “As soon as my fingers brushed his sleeve, his fist was in motion, springing out at me and catching my jaw, knocking me backward so hard the door handle dug into my right side, twisting the skin” (Dessen 155). Caitlin experiences a good and bad relationship with Rogerson. In Dreamland Caitlin tries not to follow in her sister’s footsteps, but when her sister leaves her entire life changes for both the better and the worse. At the beginning of the novel Dreamland Caitlin’s life starts off for the better. Once Caitlin finally gets over the fact that her sister left, her best friend Rina convinces her to do something her sister never did- cheerleading. Caitlin doesn’t want to do this but it’s one of the only sports her sister never tried. Before one of the popular kids’ parties Caitlin meets a peculiar person named Rogerson. Rogerson and Caitlin start to bond, and this is the start of their relationship. They had a great relationship. She met his parents and found out that Rogerson’s dad beats him and that he comes from a very nice and rich family. She also went to many parties so Rogerson could sell his drugs. Lastly, she got meet new people like her new very good friends Dave and Corinna. Her and Corinna hit it off automatically and she finds herself spending more and more time with her. Corinna is someone who she can go to with mostly anything. All of this is because of her meeting and dating Rogerson. Even though Caitlin’s life starts off for the better, along with the good also comes bad. Once Caitlin discovers new traits about Rogerson her life suddenly spirals downhill. Rogerson peer pressures Caitlin into doing drugs. He even gets her all the stuff she needs to do drugs. After Caitlin starts doing drugs she starts to skip and be late to cheerleading practices. When Caitlin sees Rina crying and driving around before their ceremony. Caitlin makes Rina pull over so they can talk. In result of this it makes Caitlin
