Student Profile: Drake The student of discussion is named Drake, he is fifteen years old and already in the tenth grade. Drake comes from a single family home where the financial situation is limited so his needs are a strain on the family. Drake got into a car accident at fourteen years old where the vehicle’s stick shift impaled the frontal lobe and Drake died at the scene and was revived at the hospital where he stayed in a coma for six months and his body atrophied and he had much work to do in order to be able to use his extremities again. Since Drake’s return home from the hospital he has been moody and even violent at times destroying items,

After Drake returned to school the frustration with schoolwork that was easy for him before is very apparent and he has had a much harder time with his self control. This self control issue leads him to have outburst that is very disruptive to the lesson being taught. This distraction to the class can even become destructive and on the edge of being dangerous to himself and those around him, yet he seems to be unable to control his reactions and afterward he feels no remorse for how he felt that led to that destructive behavior, yet there is definite remorse about the actions. Drake can pay attention when the topic of the lesson interests him. If the subject is American History or anything having to with engines or cars his attentiveness and active participation is remnant to his behavior prior to his …show more content…
This will give Drake someone who will understand what he has been through to help him understand how to better deal with situations which cause anxiety and frustration that may send him into an episode with his Anger Explosive disorder. I also feel that as soon as it is absolutely possible Drake needs to be enrolled in an auto-mechanics program where most of his curriculum is based around working with vehicles and where most of his mandatory subjects will be taught around how the lesson will help him work on a vehicle. Drake seems to need to see the completed task in his mind before understanding why the steps need to be taken in order to achieve the final goal. Drake already knows a great deal about cars and his passion and understanding of them allows him to be better able to see the final result so that he can perform the needed tasks and procedures to get to that final result that he is looking to achieve. Drake is a very lucky young man to still be alive, so the last thing that needs to be with him is for us as teachers to give up on him; he needs to catered to when it comes to how he learns; but he can become a contributing member of society if we just keep up with the patience, understanding, and guidance needed for Drake to overcome his new

    In this story, the main character Dave Sexton lives on a small farm with his mother and his father Luster Sexton. His family is relatively poor and as a result Dave has to balance both school and working on his father’s farm everyday. The story begins when Dave is on a field trip with his classmates. He and his friends end up accidentally destroying someone's property and as a result they have to pay for the damage. All of the students had enough money to pay the debt off except for Dave. Because of this, his teacher, Professor Herbert made him stay after school to work in order to pay the debt off in a different way. When Dave gets home and explains what happened to his father, Luster becomes very anger. Luster had never gone to school, but he did not want Dave to live as difficult of a life as he did.     This is effecting jack massively as when he refuses to take part he falls behind with his school work and he may not get the qualifications he was aiming for which are stated in his learning plan.
