To take information and break it down to further along knowledge on the subject is detrimental to pushing society. We gave information all the time through primary research or secondary research. The ability to analyze that information and then have the knowledge to explain will allow you to be a thought leader amongst your peers. The supernatural is often unexplainable of why the events occurred that interfered with the supernatural. Therefore, people do not often believe in the supernatural as they want facts and logic to explain the unexplainable. The close-minded part where you must have evidence to back your claim could block your absorption of the supernatural phenomena's. To open your mind and just let it be and experience the unexplainable without question could lead down a pathway of further critical thinking to explain the evidence-based science vs. the unexplainable supernatural.
Without the ability for critical thinking, this would eliminate the ability for further progression of what we already know. There is no absolute in science. We may think we know what is right until we are presented with some new facts that push the evidence through technological breakthroughs or a thought pattern.
