When I first heard that we got to do a facility interview I had to think about which of my five professors would have seemed to the most interesting to me. That was when Dr. Jennifer Ball came to my mind out of my professors that I have this semester. Dr. Ball is my intro to economics professor, some of the reasons that I figured she was a good choice for this interview included the fact that when I was high school, we never went into depth about economics so with her being gifted in that area I thought she would be a good idea for an interview. Another reason is the fact that she was one of my professor that on the first day of school, I knew she would be one that if I needed to talk to she is open to that . So on Friday the 2nd I went to

I feel like the first sentence of Earl’s statement is true because those two-thirds of adolescent and adult usually start drinking at a young age. That would make it easier for them to get attached to alcohol . Having people take a written test just to get a drinking license could help but it wouldn’t help as much. I also think that stores would lose money because not everyone that drinks is going to have a drinking license. I disagree with Earl Rochester argument.…

At the first glance, the argument that the author stated appears to be somewhat convincing, but further reflection indicates that it is based on misinterpretation of the statistics. To illustrate particularly on the statistics output in the memorandum, the survey conducted by the Lovin’ Cupful national chain restaurant indicated that 98 percent of the customers are perfectly happy with the switch from the new powdered instant tea to the brewed ones. The imposing numbers from the statistics reveals its unsoundness as valid arguments.…

In 2012 chef Paula Deen was caught in a scandal of admitting to her inappropriate use of the N-word. It all started in March of 2012 when one of the workers Lisa Jackson at the restaurant Deen owns sued her for her racial and sexual comments. On May of 2013 that is where in court Jackson’s attorney asked Deen if she had inappropriately used the “N-word”. Right then and there Paula admitted to it and quote said, “Yes of Course”. In addition, she also admitted to having a theme at her restaurant for a wedding to have the waiters portrayed as slaves. To deem herself as not a bad guy for using the word inappropriately she said how it was just a joke and not to be directed as offensive. Yet, joke is on her because in June of 2013 she was dropped…

The general argument made by Teresa Watanbe and Jason Song in their work, College Students Confront Subtler Forms of Bias: Slights and Snubs, is that victimhood is occurring in colleges around the U.S. More specifically, Watanbe and Song argues that students are getting effected by slight comments which hurt their feelings or emotions. They write, “minor slights harm student performance, mental health and work productivity,” In this passage, Watanbe and Song is suggesting people feel down in the dumps and they can't get back up because of all the negative energy to goes towards them. In conclusion, Watanbe and Song's belief is…

This article was written by Maggie Astor, a reporter on The New York Times, a newspaper considered to be one of the most reliable source of information. Astor also has a degree in political science from Barnard College, therefore the information she provided is highly credible. In the article, she reports of a recent Dove ad that caused an outcry in the social media for its racist undertones. Astor quotes Dove’s spokeswoman and her apologetic remarks, stating that the ad was intended to convey a different message and that the company will re-evaluate its internal processes for creating and reviewing content. Critics are unimpressed of the apology. Astor then lists examples from the past of ads that were accused of racism: Intel, Popchips, Nivea…

If I would to be a Hollywood producer and if I remade this for a 21st century speaker, I would use a celebrity person named Miranda Crosgrow cast as a speaker, and I would set the scene in San Diego, California. The reason why I would put it in San Diego, California, is because it is very nice there and there is a lot of people to be found there that can be useful for a lot of things. There are Celebrities there as well. It is just a good city overall since it’s in California anyways, where there is good weather, a good scenery is always good. The “Seven Ages of Man,” by William Shakespeare’s play I think that Miranda Crosgrow would be good as the speaker and I could compare her to this act of William Shakespeare’s scene. Miranda Crowgrow played…

Due to busy mornings, hectic afternoon, and countless tiresome nights, most Americans will stop by a restaurant at least once a week. As a former restaurant employee I’ve seen things that happen in the kitchen before customers receive their food. In my case, when I worked for Panera, a coworker of mines got into a heated argument with a customer over the time it would take to complete her order. As a result my former co-worker wiped the customer’s bagel on the floor and served as if nothing happened. This article sheds light on a app called whisper, that allows former and or current restaurant workers to “anonymously share their most honest thoughts, to share the gross things they see and do on a daily basis…

Carnegie has inspired women and men to use their funds to their communities. Although he advised other wealthy to use their money to benefit the communities and help in the preservation of the political system and America economy. I believe Mr. Carnegie’s argument is persuasive and is still relevant today. The wealthy, as well as small business owners, are the job creators in our society today. Their vision and leadership help to support the lower class in earning a decent living while allowing them to realize their own potential. The lower class today has more opportunities that were not available to them generations ago. While government is there to provide a safety net for those less fortunate, it is the wealthy and job creators that…

George, a ThirdSight student engaged in historical inquiry using visual elements an environment to display their endeavors, explains, “Rosie the Riveter, a propaganda tool utilized by the U.S. Government to boost morale and recruit women into the workforce, was an important part of gender pay equality. Although Rosie had a strong impact, there is still a 20% pay gap between males and females in the United States. An important area that needs to be addressed when discussing women and work, is the glass ceiling. This introduces a quote from Richard Nixon’s “Address to the Nation on Labor Day” speech in 1971,…

At the Local University, the English departments has strict attendance rules for their freshman writing course, which states that if a student misses three class, each class after that would cost them one letter grade for each absence. Entering freshman year, most students do not learn much responsibility to help them tend to their own needs. Students need to find a balance between their newly found freedom and their academics, in doing so it forces them to be mature and prepared. Professors understand that they are not only teaching students the subjects but they are teaching them how to succeed in college by giving out work and deadlines to prepare them to work in the real world. People that oppose this attendance policy…
