1. A Character that you can make as your role model. Give reason why? The novel that I had chosen is Dr Jekyll and Mr.Hyde by Robert Louis Stecenson. The character in this novel that I can make as my role model is Mr.Utterson. Mr. Utterson is a loyalty person. These are several reasons how he show his loyalty. Mr.Utterson is a close friend of Dr.Jekyll. Mr.Utterson does not tell anyone when he finds out Dr.Jekyll’s secret. Instead,he wants to help. When Mr.Hyde gives compensation to Edie’s family because he had trampled over Edie’s body, Mr.Utterson found the name of sign in the cheque is Dr.Jekyll. Moreover, he finds the walking stick which is the weapon to kill Sir Danvers Carew is he presented to Dr.Jekyll. Nevertheless, he keeps the secret to safeguard Dr.Jekyll’s good name. Second reason is Mr.Utterson is concerned Dr.Jekyll. This is because when Dr.Jekyll writes a will to Mr.Utterson which content is when Dr.Jekyll died or disappears, the estate will given to Mr.Hyde, Mr.Utterson is worry and try to persuade him. Nevertheless, Dr.Jekyll refuses his advice and does not to answer his question. Consequently, Mr.Utterson suspects that Dr.Jekyll is being blackmailed. This part shows he is loyalty to Dr.Jekyll. Third reason is Mr.Utterson trys his best to help Dr.Jekyll. When Poole find Dr.Jekyll locked him in the laboratory for a few days, he become to worry and go to Mr.Utterson’s to ask for help. When Mr.Utterson reach Dr.Jekyll’s laboratory, he try to open the door of the laboratory because he think that Dr.Jekyll is being blackmailed and he had heard the sound of Mr.Hyde. He is very tension. Although he is success to open the door, he found the body of Mr.Hyde lying on the ground. Even after Dr.Jekyll ends his own life, Mr.Utterson does not reveal anything to the outsiders so as to protect Dr.Jekyll’s good image. In our life, we also need this kind of friend. Furthermore, we must also loyalty to our friend and always try our best to help them. This is because “A friend in need is a friend indeed.”
