The history of basketball leaves many legends. Basketball was invented back in 1891 in Springfield, Massachusetts. Dr. James Naismith is known worldwide for being the inventor of basketball and the first game of basketball was played with a soccer ball and two peach baskets used as goals. James Naismith set 13 rules when inventing basketball then after that he looked into the game being played for the YMCA. He thought to himself that the game need to be fit for inside play and most importantly the game should be skil dependent instead of strength dependent. Dr. James Naismith was successful at last.

Players like Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and Shaquille O’Neal have became a great influence on basketball. Michael Jordan has owned a shoe brand that has evolved into most nba fans favorite shoe. In 2016 and 2015 the MVP was Stephen Curry, by 2016 he owned his own shoe by adidas shoe brand. Stephen curry’s most rivaled player is Lebron James. Lebron James was the MVP from 2008-2009, 2010-2011, and 2011-2012. All famous players and stars have made a huge influence in basketball and it wouldn't be the same without them. Michael Jordan starred in the movie Space Jam made in 1996. The movie played a big part for Michael Jordan’s career and the NBA also. Basketball has evolved in a great way, from peach baskets to courts in the madison square garden and from 11 teams to 30 teams. Basketball is now the third most powerful sport behind the NFL and most teams were worth over 1 billion dollars in 2016. The New York Knick are first on the forbes list of NBA with 3 billion dollars. Not to mention that NBA has made a big influence on kids in high school kids also. Kids try their best to achieve there dream to be in the NBA from high school to college to the NBA draft. Only few are chosen to be in the NBA but anything is possible. Michael Jordan has made it to the NBA but has also made mistakes as dropping out his sophomore basketball team but has still made it from South Carolina to the NBA draft for MVP of many years while others havent made it to college from high school without getting dropped for a year. Other new players like Zach Lavine has became stars at a very young age. The Minnesota Timberwolves consists of the youngest team but still achieves goals with their young team against such older balanced age teams like the Cleveland Cavaliers. The NBA is an inspiration to the United states and other countries as well, im sure it inspired you as well after reading
