Doxorubicin Research Paper
Doxorubicin is a secondary metabolite produced by sterptomyces peucetius var.caesius and belongs to ANTs (2). Doxorubicin is an efficient anti-neoplaastic agent used for treatment of child and adult cancers such as solid tumors, leukemia, lymphoma and breast cancer (2). Optimal administration of doxorubicin is hampered due to some toxicity such as hematopoietic suppression, nausea, vomiting, extravasation, alopecia and cardiotoxicity (2). Cytotoxic chemotherapy-induced cardiotoxicity has a high incidence (2). Cardiotoxicity includes short- and long-term toxic effects in the heart including alterations in mayocardial structure and function to severe cardiomyopathy and heart failure that may result in heart transplantation or death. I am David Shane Dobyns, twenty-two years of age; I was born in Puyallup, Washington August 17th 1994 at Good Samaritan hospital. My family consists of my mother, father, and brother. Growing up was as idyllic as one would suspect. In my pre-pubescent years we moved several times bouncing from Oregon to Washington in search of “gods’ plan” for us, finally starting a church of our own in Lubbock, Texas. The church siphoned our time and money to the brink of poverty. Through the eyes of a jaded 5-year-old, everything was but a perfect utopia, neither a problem nor a care in the world. Mother was a stay at home at the wife, dictated by the church, whilst father worked odd jobs donating what blood and platelets he could muster that week to pay…

There are twelve key principles of green chemistry that are used to evaluate how green a reaction may be. A green reaction prevents waste before it is created with little to no toxicity. Green experiments should be designed to maximize the starting materials into the final products while minimizing toxicity. Raw materials should be renewable and products should break down and not persist in the environment while reducing derivatives. All experiments should be performed in real time with use of catalysts while minimizing potential chemical accidents.…

In 2015, Lokhorst et al examined the effects of giving a new drug called daratumumab by itself. Daratumumab is an antibody that targets specific receptors more commonly found on malignant myeloma cells compared to normal cells. The study was a multiphase trial that covered Phases 1 and 2. Part 1 had 32 patients, and the goal was to investigate safe dose ranges of the drug. Part 2 had 72 patients, and the goal was to investigate the efficacy of the established doses from the first phase. Part 1 could not identify a maximum tolerated dose; even the highest dose had modest adverse effects. Part 2 found that patients who received a higher dose had a higher likelihood of the drug being effective and a higher likelihood of progression-free survival…

When anthrax spores get inside the body, they can be activated and once activated they can multiple, spread, and produce toxins or poisons. This then will cause serious illness in the body. After toxins have been released in the body, one possible treatment is antitoxin. Antitoxins target anthrax toxins in the body. Doctors must use antitoxin together with other treatment options. Currently, there are a few types of antitoxins that can be used for treating anthrax (Anthrax… 2015). A few antibiotics that aid in the treatment of anthrax are: clindamycin, doxycycline, ciprofloxacin, and most recently approved by the FDA is raxibacumab. Raxibacumab works best by dramatically decreasing how serious anthrax can be. The drug uses monoclonal antibodies to bind to toxins secreted by B. anthracis, which prevents it from entering the cells. There is also a vaccine; it contains live spores and a toxoid, which is used in certain places where anthrax is common to protect…

Hanse, Gong, Philbert, and Harris (2002) report that thalidomide can damage the cells and lead to teratogenicity by increasing the amount of oxygen radicals produced and inducing oxidative stress. On the other side, in their study, Stephens, Bunde and Fillmore (2000) demonstrate that thalidomide tends to inhibit angiogenesis by reducing the production of IGF-1 and FGF-2. IGF-1 and FGF-2 are the factors that play a role in stimulating the first step of alpha 5- and beta 3-integrin subunit genes expression, which leads to the stimulation of the formation of new blood vessels. Another study of Ito, Ando, Suzuki, Ogura, Hotta, Imamura, Yamaguchi, and Handa (2010) provides evidence to support that CRBN - a thalidomide-binding protein – can damage Cullin-4A and DNA binding protein 1, which are the essential factors for the limb…

A simple, rapid, specific and highly sensitive spectrofluorimetric method has been developed for the quantification of dabigatran etexilate mesylate (DAB) in bulk and capsule dosage form. A linear relationship was found between fluorescence intensity and DAB concentration in the range of 0.01-1.0 μg/ml in DMSO as solvent at an emission wavelength of 391 nm after excitation at 334 nm, with a good correlation coefficient (0.989). The detection and quantification limits were found to be 0.005 and 0.015 µg/ml, respectively. The proposed method was applied for DAB capsules, results reveal with percentage recovery of 102% and percentage RSD values were found to be less than 2 for accuracy and precision studies. The proposed method was validated for linearity, range, accuracy, precision, limit of detection and quantification according to ICH guidelines. Statistical analysis of the results revealed high accuracy and good precision. The suggested procedures could be used for the determination of DAB in bulk and capsule dosage form in quality control laboratories of industries as well as in academic institutions.…
