Dove story
Dove is a well-known chocolate brand, and there is a romantic story behind the name ‘Dove’. It was the spring of 1919, when Princess Charlotte from Luxembourg married Prince Felix of Bourbon-Parma. It was a big ceremony so that the 18 year-old boy Leon, who worked for Luxembourg for years, was very busy during that time. His worked for such a long time that his hands were full of wounds. One day, when he was washing the dishes an angle voice came into his ear ‘That must be hurt, isn’t it?’ This beautiful sound was made by Princess Bazzar who was a distant relative of Prince Felix. It was the first time these two youths met.

After the lonely boy Leon met the kind Princess Bazzar, they became very close soon. The ice-cream was luxury at that time, so Leon made ice-cream for Princess Bazzar late at night. They ate ice-cream and talked with each other happily every night and fell in love with each. However, due to the big gap of status, neither of them showed the love in their heart.

Tragedies always happened to beloved ones like Leon and Bazzar. Few months after, Luxembourg decided to ask Princess Bazzar to marry a prince from another country to gain the friendship between the two countries. Leon was restless when he heard the news and got more restless after a few days without seeing Princess Bazzar at all. His last chance to connect to Princess Bazzar was the ice-cream he made. So he used hot chocolate to write ‘Dove’ on the ice-cream which stand for ‘Do you love me?’ However, what Leon had not consider about is the hot chocolate made the ice-cream melt and when the ice-cream was serve to Princess Bazzar , she could not figure out the letter on it. Leon missed the last chance and Princess Bazzar left him to married the prince from another country. Leon deeply regretted and he decided to make chocolate with ‘Dove’ on every piece. That is the origin of ‘Dove’—Do you love me?

The Wife’s Story by Ursula K. Le Guin is a story about a woman married to a man who turns out to be a werewolf. In this tale Le Guin reverses the typical werewolf story into the point of view of other wolves. She tells the story in a first person narrative which is very effective. The narrator’s voice in this story changes the ways you will normally respond to any other story. The Wife’s Story is not the typical werewolf story you would expect.…

The power of love causes individuals to react in many different ways. In the Lais of Marie de France, each story of love produces a different outcome. For a story’s relationship, whether it involves lovers, siblings, or parents and children, there is one similarity hidden beneath the facades that make up each story; love. The characters involved make drastic changes to their lives in order for their relationship to survive. Throughout many of the tales, the protagonists succumb to the pain of love and the disappointments that may come along with it. In the “Lai of Milun”, the characters suffer greatly in hopes of one day achieving a fulfilled relationship, but their perseverance is rewarded in the end. Although Milun and his mistress…

Marie begins her collection of lais with the story of Guigemar, a noble knight who is cursed with the task of finding true love to heal a physical injury. This lay introduces two types of love: selfish and selfless. Selfish love is not courtly love. It lacks devotion and true loyalty. It lacks suffering and self-denial. Marie de France portrays this kind of love in the old husband of the woman whom Guigemar loves. The man locks his wife away in an enclosure guarded by a castrated man. By doing this, the husband shows a mean, limited devotion to his wife; perhaps even worse, he limits her ability to experience true love. This kind of love does not last; in fact, the husband is cuckolded when his wife has a year-long affair with Guigemar. He is made a fool, the dupe of love.…

The phrase "closed eyes" is an indication that the woman is daydreaming about a better place, and this idea is further enhanced by the word "vivid", meaning full of life. With the use of these words in this context, the reader is led to believe the woman is only full of life when her eyes are closed as she is thinking of another place. Rita also indicates the "hellish" life of the woman at the end of her poem when she states:…

Time of the Doves documents the personal struggles of a woman during the devastating times of the Spanish Civil War. I believe the central themes of the novel are the character trying to find her true identity, and women being silenced and oppressed in society. During this time period, the Spanish Civil War is occurring, but Natalia seems oblivious to the war throughout the novel. Natalia is more concerned with survival than the outcome of the war. The novel written by Rodoreda seems like a diary and it is disorganized. “Rodoreda uses a stream-of-consciousness voice to narrate the dialogue.” (language123.blogstop.com)…

We recently read two articles “The Story of a Suicide” by Ian Parker and “Trial by Twitter” by Ariel Levy. They have their point of views and different perspective on the social media. Although they express both positive and negative aspect, we wonder if in fact the social media takes a toll on the way society is lived today. The father was very happy when his daughter visited him after a long time. He had nothing special for his daughter but he did thoughtfully buy some peaches as a meal to welcome her back. He gave his little girl a good-looking peach and took the flawed one for himself. In the flawed peach, there was a bug came out from the cavity. The father didn’t fear this bug; he looked at it as if it was his acquaintance and friendly named it Gaston. The image of poor Gaston seemed like the father: Gaston used to have everything in the seed of the peach; it had been a very comfortable house for him but now he had nothing as the father used to have a family, a sweet home before with his wife and daughter together but he lost it. Both of them felt pain, fear, and a solitary life when they lost everything, which meant a lot to them. Thus, the father didn’t care about how ugh Gaston was; moreover, it was a handsome boulevardier to him. He believed that Gaston had a right to have home, to be loved and treated well like anyone else. In order to make his daughter believe that, he ate the rest of the peach without hesitation just to show the girl the open halves, where Gaston belonged. The girl was so naïve, she believed in what her father said and that was a…
