Douglas Garland Faces Charges For Murder

A Calgary couple, Alvin and Kathryn Liknes, disappeared from their home on the 29th of June, 2014, along with their grandson, Nathan O’Brien, after Nathan’s parents dropped him off for an impromptu sleepover.
The next morning, after Nathan’s mother called the house and didn’t receive an answer, she went to the home; upon entering, O’Brien found blood in several rooms and called the police.

An amber alert was immediately issued for Nathan, and his grandparents were also declared missing.
Police, after searching the area, announced a ‘violent incident’ had occurred in the home. Calgary police staff Sgt. Doug Andrus says: “Based on the evidence at the scene, somebody would be in medical distress.”

There was evidence that wasn’t collected such as blood that Mrs Chamberlain offered to give to the police. Evidence such as their tents and belongings were moved to a motel on the first night, which could’ve caused contamination allowing the evidence to have alterations. Their tents and belongings were also not searched. In addition, the family was then allowed to leave in their car the following morning without it being explored allowing contamination with another piece of evidence. Furthermore, evidence that was discovered later on in the case such as Azaria’s jumpsuit was moved then picked up and was not placed as it was found which tampered with the evidence. Although the collection of evidence throughout this case demonstrated faults, the Jury still concluded to Mrs Chamberlain as a guilty woman, which led to her…

Laci Peterson, a 27-year-old wife who was eight months pregnant, disappeared on December 24, 2002. When the body of the California woman and her unborn child were found four months later, her husband, Scott, was charged with two counts of murder. Detective Craig Grogan gave a sworn statement that he had probable cause to believe Mr. Peterson committed two counts of the crime of 187 Penal Code, homicide, on or about December 23 or 24 of 2002, in the county of Stanislaus. Finally the smoke cleared and I could see what I think I’ve been looking for, for five years… I saw a small, abandoned house, which was run down and you could see dead ivy along the tattered walls. It was a little haunting but I promised myself and my sister in law I would help find my two nieces that had made a giant mistake five years ago… He drove out here, into the middle of no where and just dropped his two daughters off in this house and left them to live by themselves, they were no older than 3 years old… He then just left and kept on driving, I’m guessing this was all planned as he then drove into a big truck at least twice the size of his car, and killed himself. We all were devastated.…
