Dorcas Research Paper
We know very little about Dorcas, but we know enough to see how respected and loved she was in her community. Dorcas is her Greek name and she is also known by her Aramaic name Tabitha. Both mean gazelle. What a picture of delicate grace.
She was called a disciple or believer. So at some point she heard about Jesus and received Him as her Lord and Savior. Her life was devoted to service. She was a first century fashion designer using her skill to help others. She was a witness of her faith through action and service especially to the poor.
There was a great mourning in the community when she fell ill and died. Some of the people at Dorcas’ home knew Peter was in a nearby city. Peter’s miracles were well known in the area. They sent two men
