So far Doogee has become known for cheap, solid yet not really outstanding smartphones. But things seem to be set to change with their latest smartphone. It combines innovative design, fine specs and a very reasonable price. Go on reading my Doogee Mix review if you want to learn more.
The package looks pretty well. Once you remove the phone, you will see a box containing the warranty card and manual. Then you will find a plastic screen protector and a hard black case. You also have a micro-USB cable, a charger and a SIM ejector. The coolest stuff in the package are an 8 GB memory stick and a ring which you can use to hold the phone as you can stick it to the phone’s back using its adhesive sheet. It is hard for me to understand why...
Doogee Mix became quite popular last year for its nearly bezel-less display. Doogee Mix too has very slim bezels except the bottom side which is quite pronounced. It is so because the fingerprint scanner and the camera are placed there. The back, like the front, is made of Corning Gorilla 5 glass which is great. There we find the dual cameras and the LED flash.
The frame is made of metal. On the top there is the headphone jack while on the bottom we have the micro-USB port, speaker and microphone. The power button and volume controller are in the right side.
Doogee Mix looks great. It is shiny and glossy. It may seem a bit heavy in the hand but its build quality is excellent. I do not like the fact that the buttons rattle a bit.
Doogee Mix is powered by Mediatek’ s Helio P25 chipset. It is an octa-core processor clocked at 2.5 GHz. As for RAM Doogee has thought of making two variants of this smartphone. One comes with 4 GB and the slightly more expensive variant comes with 6 GB. The GPU is a Mali-T880. To put this in perspective, it is the GPU used by Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. The phone has 64 GB of storage and has a battery of 3380 mAh....
This skin offers many features but also makes the phone laggy at times. Maybe this will be fixed by a later software update. Some of the features offered are the possibility to read the news bu swiping to the right, single-hand mode, several gestures such as double tap to wake etc. These gestures work quite well and may be helpful depending on your habits of using a phone. The fingerprint scanner is accurate but not that fast. It can be used to navigate the interface insdead of the customizable virtual navbar. The gaming performance is very good even at the highest graphic settings.
Doogee Mix has a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display made by Samsung. If you like oversaturated colors then this is the right display for you but if you do ot maybe you should look elsewhere. In all cases it is a sharp display having a resolution of 1080*1920 with 401 pixels per inch. The black borders around it kind of ruin the bezel-less effect though....
