Our Avid team, Chaos, has decided to give to our community by expressing kindness and words of wisdom to our community. As we all may know Donald Trump’s presidential victory was a huge upset for Californians and specially those minorities he discriminates against. Those minorities including: POC, LGBT, and undocumented immigrants. His victory has brought fear and anxiety to these minorities, therefore; we decided to take stand and express positivity. We all stand united no matter what sexual orientation or cultural differences. We are all one race and that is the human race.     Oh, the art of San Francisco. A city filled with art not only in the form of breathtaking pictures, but art in the form of flamboyant parades, differing cultures, and unique landscapes. All of this combine to make San Francisco an “epicenter for liberal activism” (Begin 1). For decades, San Francisco has been known to be one of the most progressive cities in the country, being home to a number of protests and rallies formed to further human rights and create equality in the world. However, lately a large amount of proposed laws are making people question this once irrefutable reputation. The latest of these laws is directly targeting homeless people. The Sit/Lie Ordinance, also known as Proposition L, would ban individuals from sitting or lying on public sidewalks from the hours of 7 a.m. to 11 p.m (Begin 1). This would mean that any homeless person who simply sits on the sidewalk minding his or her business during such hours would face an expensive fine and possible jail time. Such a law completely contradicts the meaning of a public sidewalk. The sidewalks are public; they are accessable by all members of a community, regardless of their financial status. How can the city of “love and peace” be the same city that criminalizes individuals sitting on a public sidewalk? This ordinance is both unfair and unethical, targeting a group of people just because of their poverty level and creating discrimination rather than fighting it.…

According to Dallas News, there was a protest in Dallas and the protesters, counter protesters, and officers came together and formed a prayer circle. A police sergeant named Hall said, “Makes me feel great to see people with such differences come together and work it out.” The word “differences” show that people can come together even though they are not exactly the same. The “differences” do not have to be physically different but can also be mentally different. Mentally different as in people with different opinions about the Black Lives Matter movement.     After graduating high school, I knew I had to make a decision to either go to community college or join The United States Army. I decided to diligently join the Army and make something of myself. I knew, coming from where I did, you either sink or swim. I refused to become another product of my environment. I left for training a week after I graduated high school. As an 18 year old, I did not know what to expect. I would train rigorously. Although I was always an athlete, I physically performed feats I never thought I could do. I felt mature not just physically but also mentally. When I joined the Army, it was not just about me finding a career; it was my transitionary stage into becoming a man. During the process of joining the Army, they give you many options and incentives for your career, if you score high on your assessment test. One of my options was to go to airborne school after I was finished with my initial training. But the only problem was my biggest fear was heights. When you are airborne in the Army you jump out of an airplane with a parachute on your back into combat. At first, I was excited beyond measure because becoming airborne in the army is a very distinctive honor. During airborne school, I went through a three week training process. It was very intense training and you learned to pay attention to everything the instructors were teaching. Because with one wrong move or slip up while jumping could cost your life or end up getting someone else hurt, which could be fatal. Luckily, I graduated airborne school and I ended up finishing my army career with over 34 jumps and two jumps were into combat.…
