In the article, “Donald Trump's Inaugural Address Was Great” by James Poulus, it is wrote that Donald Trump used quotes from speeches of other famous figures. For example, he used something from Theodore Roosevelt, Bill Clinton, and Bubba. It was about how great he will be for the USA. In the article, “Don’t Believe the Populism of Trump’s Inaugural Address. Our President Is a Plutocrat.” by Ryan Cooper, however, talks about the complete opposite. It says that he has promised us so many things and isn’t keeping his promises. Reading both articles it was very interesting to see two different perspective on the same speech. Ryan was on the negative side of things explaining he is more on the rich people’s side. While James was on the more positive…

Donald Trump’s call to “Make America Great Again” has polarized the nation, and is a very current and relevant example of corruption and violence infecting a modern revolution. Although unlike his liberal counterpart Bernie Sanders he hasn’t actually called for a “political revolution,” Donald Trump’s radical policies would be just as much of a departure from traditional American politics. He calls for the deportation of millions of illegal immigrants, a wall on the Mexican border, a ban on Muslims, and for companies based elsewhere to bring their jobs back to the United States. Ever since Trump gained the national spotlight he has been criticized for his Trump University scam and inciting violence among his supporters. When Trump University…

Out of these works, I have read Let America Be America Again and Invisible Man. Let America Be America Again was written at the height of the Harlem Renaissance and describes the oppression of African Americans despite America being the land of the “free.” I think this poem is important because it embodies the on-going fight for equality of African Americans. Invisible Man depicts the story of an African American man who lived his life as a model citizen, but now lives in an underground hole. The story exemplifies the emotional and psychological trauma that many African Americans endure solely because of their race. I think this story is important because it allows the reader to gain perspective on how prevalent racism and its effects are.…

This speech began as epideictic, with a brief mention of his condolences for the families and the lives lost, and included a moment of silence. However, the remainder of his speech turned to a more deliberative type of oratory, which is also known as political rhetoric. This type of rhetorical setting addresses topics such as war and peace, national defense, trade, and legislation, to assess what is harmful and beneficial (Herrick, 2016). During his speech, Trump delivered self-congratulatory comments, political attacks, and strove to instill fear of terrorism. His speech was used an opportunity to spread suspicion and to frame himself as uniquely positioned to make the country safer. There was no sincere outreach to the American public, and the facts he presented did not appear to match the rhetoric.…

It was interesting to hear Donald Trumps' New York speech, the most confusing and scary part of the speech is when he stated that " this political stuff is hard." What did he expect the role of the President would be. A person who runs the country does not do so easily, there are decision that must be made that requires one to be resilient despite the outcome. I do, however, understand that just as President Obama posed as a model figure to many people both of color and not, President elect Trump posses as the same figure for many Americans. I do not believe that president Trump can fulfill majority of his promises to the American people, my fear lies in the people who believe that they can fulfill those promises for him. Such as segregation of the Mexican people by…
