People are more relaxed – it is the Caribbean, remember. The important thing is not to get annoyed too quickly. Showing your displeasure to a waiter or anyone else in a service industry is likely to get you less service rather than more. You'll get a much better response if you smile, stay friendly and use as much Spanish as you can" (Dominican Republic Culture). One of their most popular cultural events is held in August. It is called Higuey, Festival of the Bulls. Spain has a similar running; however, the one held in the Dominican Republic is a religious parade. The Dominican Republic's major holidays help define their culture. The World Travel Guide states, "The Dominican Republic's main holidays are: New Year's Day, Epiphany, Our Lady of Altagracia, Duarte's Birthday, Foundation Day of Santa Domingo, Our Lady of Las Mercedes, and Christmas" (230). To the locals in the Dominican Republic, baseball is not just the national sport, but a passion. Many of the athletes go on to play in the United States. It is very rare if a community in the Dominican Republic does not have a baseball stadium (World Travel Guide

What I have noticed from this reading and the internet was that in many parts of the world, prostitution is completely legal. Prostitution is commonly referred to the “world’s oldest profession”. It is something that undoubtedly does now and has always existed in every corner of the globe. My personal stance is that females, or males for that matter, should not be regulated or prohibited from selling their own bodies. It should be a moral, not a legal issue. Since, there is always an exchange of “currency “or “paso”any time two people date. So, in Sosua, Dominican Republic, clearly the law agrees with my stance. However, in the Domican Republic it is illegal to exploit into selling your body for sex. In other words, one cannot legally have a pimp.…
