Dog Persuasive Speech
Pinecrest Estates is an amazing place to live. It is close to shopping centers, has beautiful woods surrounding it, and has many job opportunities around it.
But there is one thing we can do to make this place even better, allow dogs.
Since I have lived here, I have always wanted a dog, yet they are not allowed, but I am here to tell you the possible problems you are basing your ban off of, are strongly outweighed by the positive benefits of having a dog.

Dogs make people happier, dog owners are less likely to suffer from depression than people who do not own dogs. Playing with a dog increases serotonin and dopamine levels, which calm and relax. Caring for a dog will make you feel needed, and add structure to your day. No matter how much you don’t want to get out of bed, who else will feed your dog, take it on walks?

And the only interaction they needed was to stare into their dog's eyes.Fun fact: A dog's willingness to meet eyes with humans is one of the things that separates them from wolves.”

People are more likely to come and talk to you if you have a dog at your side. My father was talking about this yesterday, how if he had a dog then he would get out of the house more often and talk to other dog owners,

Dogs help people live healthier lives. By going out and giving a dog a walk, you’re also getting a walk, getting exercise every day. Dog owners have lower levels of triglyceride and cholesterol, indicators of heart disease than people who do

But they usually try the “cheap” route which is only the cheaper choice at the moment. Humans are fine to show love and affection, but pets are even better. The only problem is, pets show a tremendous affection, and in the article “Why A Man’s Best Friend Is A Man’s Best Friend” it says,“Children often turn to their pet for comfort if a friend or a family member dies or leaves the family. Grieving adults who did not have a close source of human support were also found to have less depression if they had a pet”(Drs. Foster & Smith Educational Staff). Dogs know exactly how their human is feeling 99% of the time and if they do not know, they are always trying to figure it out. In “Huffington’s Post” they said, “Dogs are very attuned to humans' moods, which makes them a good gauge of what we're feeling. They're "an emotional barometer. Dogs have been domesticated for about 12,000 years," he says. "One of the things that research has shown is dogs have learned over these years, perhaps better than any other being, how to read our nonverbal behavior." (Klein,…

The American Pet Products Association states that 56 million American households own a dog. That’s half of all homes in the United States. Half of us know the affection and companionship of a dog. Half of us may even consider our dogs as a part of the family, and half of us would understand the pain of losing one of our pets. Laws are now being passed that are banning certain dogs from cities, counties, states, and even entire countries. It’s called Breed Specific Legislation, or BSL for short, and its sole purpose is to remove and euthanize dogs from American homes that are considered dangerous. BSL does not work, and should not be considered because breed identification methods are flawed, no dog breed is truly more dangerous than another, and the cost to enforce breed specific legislation is high.…

Almost 40% of Americans live in a city where they need dog parks. That is a high demand. Dogs need to socialize. Getting along with other animals and people is good for the dog. It sometimes lessens the rate of reports on dog attacks. It also may be good for the animal to get off its leash and learn its surroundings. If not, in some cases, they become disobedient and develop behavioral problems. A lot of animals are left at shelters for…

I believe that dogs teach you how to enjoy the little things in life. I always look for happiness in the wrong places, and never knew that happiness is in the simple, minor things that happen every day. I'm a girl; therefore I used to think happiness has to come from boys, clothes, by looking fabulously dressed in school, getting new makeup or being complimented by others. How wrong I was... I should've known that those things should be the last things on my mind because of how insignificant…

Someone once said, “Every child should have two things: a dog and parents willing to let them have one.” Dogs make your life full and complete since they are such a joy to have around. They are always by your side no matter what happens, and they are the only things on earth that will love you more than you love yourself. Dogs are necessary in people’s lives; dogs turn frowns upside down and keep you feeling good.
