    Animal Bloodlust Analysis

Papps initiates his case with an anecdote to describe the “brutal scene” in which pit bulls are “trying to tear each other to pieces.” This intended start was to hook the reader into the piece, coupled with the use of enlarged text and pictures depicting pit bulls labeled as “dangerous” behind bars, alludes to the point that they have no place in public, only belonging to euthanasia clinics that would end their “bloodlust”. From this, the reader is invoked with a sense of fear and perspective to the grandeur of the issue at hand, made to be shocked and weary of the breed as Papps attempts to distort their views on pit bulls. Smith also utilizes the prison motif for his pictures in his piece, to further stress the idea of “pit bulls are being used as weapons” but differing in his objective. He aims to objectify the dog in this case, where they serve no more than mere “weapons and aids for criminal activities” so that the audience feels less squeamish of the newly imposed laws regarding their stay in Victoria. This is contrasted by Papps’ representation of the dogs, calling them “super killer dogs” that were “trained to kill”. He demonizes each breed, which leads to a similar action Smith intended for the audience—in that, to distance the audience from these dogs, moving them away from sympathizing with the dogs which further bolsters the arguments of both authors.…

Should dog’s that have never had a bad mark on their record be taken from their families and put into an animal shelter just to be killed, or should they be given a chance? Not only does this mean that a child may lose their best friend but a great dog is being punished for looking a certain way. This can be tied back to America’s over exaggerated fear of difference. We disrespect pit bulls with all of the stereotypes against their breeds when in the early 1900s they were a pride of our country, they were the military mascot and much more. Pit bulls are not vicious by genetics they are vicious due to irresponsible or abusive pet owners.…

While standing in the yard watching the dogs, an observation I made was the various breed-specific factors that influenced the dog’s temperaments and behaviors. For example, how much exercise a dog requires varies greatly from dog to dog, but some breeds are most certainly more active and lively than others. Dogs such as Australian Shepard’s, Huskies and Labrador Retrievers are full of life, hard to tire out, and constantly ready for action. Although, when the owners of these particularly active dogs do not provide enough stimulation and exercise for them, I find myself struggling to control the dogs that may begin to act out, try to escape the yard, or become hard to control when on a leash. Another observation I made was the different intelligence levels of dogs that vary significantly between breeds. I could tell which dogs were considered highly intelligent by their responsiveness to training and learning a wider range of skills and tricks.
The intelligent dogs also tend…

She is the smallest type of golden doodle. She loves to go on walks especially in the fall because she loves all the leaves on the ground. She also enjoys playing fetch and hide and seek. Hide and seek is really funny with her because whenever I hide with Marley while my younger sister seeks, she always knows where to look because Marley is barking or rolling around. She absolutely loves to get her belly rubbed and she loves when other people come to her house because she literally goes crazy. Why to get a dog

Dogs protect our livestock, homes, and children. They detect bombs, lead the blind, and track criminals and the stranded alike. Some tow boats to shore. Others race across fields in search of game. Some dogs flush, retrieve, or point. Others herd, gather, drive, or drove. Some dogs pull sleds, taking us where we could never go alone. Others sniff out drugs, detect heart attacks, or listen to sounds in the forest we could never hear. Some dogs fill stewpots while luckier ones sit on cushions in royal halls. Look at any picture or literature of any class in the history of Man, and there is a dog. They are heroes and villains. They are lab rats and show stock. Some dogs go off to war for us, while others simply let us hold them until we can’t cry anymore. They have helped us live, work, and eat, and in this relationship both of our species have exploded in populations and prominence. While such population explosions come with their problems, the numbers don’t lie.…
