If I could have one do-over in life, I would relive my sister Myra's adoption day. The adoption took place about nine years ago, when Myra and I were both five. I remember feeling extremely petulant because I was wearing a dress. I cannot blame my younger self for my actions because I didn't truly know what I was doing, but I as I look back on that day, I feel a twinge of regret, due to a typical child reaction. The pictures that were taken show my sisters, smiling and excited, and me, looking sulky and bad-tempered; in essence, I was being a brat. I regret my behavior because I'm afraid that Myra might have believed that my attitude was because I didn't want to be her sister, and that was most certainly not the case. I was having a selfish…

I would have played with dolls a little longer. In addition, wore less make-up and no high-heel shoes. I also would worry less about the number of friends I had or who I was dating. I would have listened more to my parents because they knew more than I could have. All of the things that did not benefit me would be reduced or eliminated. Wow, how different my life would be if all this was possible? Despite the ill feelings and setbacks, I do not regret my past. The choices I made molded me into the person I am today. God has a plan for me, and all along he was guiding me toward this road I am on today. I have a beautiful family of my own and will achieve a bachelor’s degree in business management this December. Most importantly, I feel I can be a role model for my children and provide opportunities to allow them to become successful individuals. Moreover, I can continue to guide them to achieve the highest educational experience possible. Today, I can proudly say I have learned many life lessons and wise beyond my…

Everyone wishes they could changed an event in their life, myself being no exception. It almost has a weight upon me, after years, the one biggest regret in my life. The day my mother died. Her and I never had the best of relationships, she struggled with mental issues and drug abuse, and was never around me, which created a certain disconnection between the two of us. It almost seemed like a portion of my visits always ended in some form of argument. Even at a younger age I almost felt like the parent in some situations she and I were placed in, maybe due to her recklessness? Maybe it was the disabilites? Regardless, the day before she died we got into an all too common arguement. This had to do with breaking the lease on yet another duplex,…

I see myself as a trustworthy, reliable, and good-humored person. I keep a positive attitude even in the face of difficulty. I try to create a supportive environment for everyone. I have an excellent GPA, I’ve done volunteer work, multiple extracurricular activities, and held down a job, and though I feel like all of this makes me remarkably qualified for your scholarship, it doesn’t set me apart from the other applicants. What I believe sets me apart from others is my combination of hard work and drive to succeed. The reason why I should be considered for the scholarship is because I think that my accomplishments and perseverance will continue to lead me to success. I already have preconceived information about college and I know the challenges…

Some aspect of my college life I thought I could've done better. During my college life, I was not a full-time student. I was half working to support myself and my sister financially. I would've totally do that as my do-over in life if I had the choice. Although there are some pros and cons in these two choices, if I have the choice for a do-over, I would still pick the choice of being a full-time student.…

WHEN it comes to scholarships in Malaysia, they generally fall into one of two categories: corporate or government, or college-based. Corporate or government scholarships are often a student’s best bet to study overseas, as many of them cover not only tuition costs, but living, computer and travel expenses as well. At the same time, they encourage their scholars to pursue their degree overseas and those that are for SPM school-leavers cover pre-university programmes.…
