However I can see how some people are. It gives you pleasure to surf the web or go on twitter when you’ve got nothing else to do. It’s also a huge distraction when doing homework. If you’re confused with an assignment, it’s very easy to take a 10 minutes break and scroll through social media sites. But, suddenly, that 10 minutes turns into an hour and you’ve wasted a great deal of time basically doing nothing. Also, it is very inappropriate to use your phone in class, especially if the professor prohibits it. When you’re in class you should be focused on your work, not looking at pictures on Instagram or texting your friend. The two factors of teen risk taking and use of the internet definitely tie into each other. Internet should be used in moderation but because it is so easily available to teens, it makes it hard for them to resist the feeling they have when they use…

Social media is affecting the mental health of teens. One reason social media is affecting teens is because it's addictive. Many students will get on social media instead of doing things like homework or studying. Some students will wake up in the middle of the night just to get on social media. Another reason is because teens can lose sleep from using social media at night. A new study has found that teens that use social media at night lose sleep and have an increased risk of anxiety and depression. Teens need at least 9.5 hours of sleep at night to be healthy, but most only average about 7.5 a night. A lack of sleep can make teenagers tired, depressed, and more likely to catch colds and the flu. The last reason is because students can…

Social Media has had a negative effect on adolescents educational output by consuming time that should be spent on homework assignments thus inhibiting poor time management skills. Parent and teachers alike have been astounded by the excessive use of social media among adolescents during the past decade. Many teens own smartphones or cell phones. In fact, "Overall, 77% of those ages 12-17 have a cell phone” (Lenhart). Just to make it clear, cell phones and smartphones are different. Smartphones are a type of cell phone but are more advanced. Smartphones usually have touch screens, Internet capabilities, and gaming applications (but also have text messaging and calling) while a cell phone’s main (and usually only) use is text messaging and calling. Of all teens that own a cell phone, “31% of those ages 14-17 have a smartphone” (Lenhart). This number has been gradually increasing over the years. Teens are constantly on their phones, whether they are texting, playing games, or social networking. From my own experiences being a teen, when I walk down the hall or look around at lunch, almost everybody is looking down at their phones even if they are with other people. This shows how cell phones are affecting teens. They would rather be on their phones than share a conversation with a friend.…

Other than suffering from CVS and hearing loss, teenagers will also experience emotional instability when they consume too much technology. Teenagers need approximately 9 hours of sleep daily, but they often text late into the night with their friends. With that being said, they are not able to focus well in school as well as cope with social pressure. Teens will also fail to separate themselves with parents and become independent thinkers, which happens to be a crucial development step for young adults. The blame can be put on cell phones. Besides that, social media sites prevent teens from facing solitude. This will cause loneliness…

Denying the fact that teenagers spend too much time on their mobile phones and computers will be an injustice. It will be like lying to ourselves. Being a teenager myself, I willingly admit to the fact that we do spend too much time on our technologies. We cannot help it; with time, incredible inventions have mastered to better our lives and being born in the new generation, the youth have quickly adapted to the changes, particularly the teenagers. While others think this habit is full of catches, it has got its perks as well.…

Besides lots of good things that technology has brought for human, it can cause students to forget about their education. Since technology is an easy and sometimes cheap way for entertainment, it attracts students and causes them to waste their valuable time with unimportant activities. Internet is one type of technology which takes time from students. For example, students spend a lot of time online in order to chat with people, watch videos on Youtube, and keep in touch on Facebook. Phones also interrupt students since they are texting and calling each other all the time. Video games, which are popular among young people, are another source of distraction. These things are not worth replacing the time for education. As time goes by, technology becomes more advanced which can affect students even more.…
