In todays society, cell phone are heavily relied on with their vast amount of uses. You can do almost anything with a cell phone. Even though they can be very helpful, cell phones are also capable of being tremendously dangerous. As a result of these risks, many states have made it illegal to drive while using a handheld cell phone. The use of cell phones while driving should be illegal in every state because they are distracting, they are responsible for many deaths, and there is really no need for them while driving. Although many agree that it should be illegal to use a cell phone while driving, some people disagree. She was stopped at a traffic light and believed it was acceptable to read a text message while she waited for the light to turn green. She was oblivious to how distracting her phone could be. She is not the only person to make easy mistakes like these. Many people, especially teens, do not realize how distracting cell phones are until they experience it for themselves. Even the most experienced driver is not capable of safely using a handheld cell phone while driving. Secondly, cell phones cause hundreds of deaths each year. People always hear tragic stories on the news or in school about accidents caused from people texting while driving where people are sadly killed. In many cases, it is not just the driver who is killed, but also friends riding in the car and other innocent drivers. When a person is driving and sends a message on their cell phone they are not just putting their own life in danger, but also the lives of those around them. This small device, know as the cell phone, can ruin so many lives in an instant. When one is given a car they are also handed a great amount responsibility that needs to be taken very seriously because one mistake could be their last.
