A DISTINGUISHED DISTINCTION 2 The male and female body may look different in appearance, but they behave and react similarly internally. Most differences depend on the different hormones in men and women, mainly testosterones and estrogen. Hormones both affect and effect emotions and sexuality within the male and female body. The brain is also an internal component that shows similarity and difference patterns. From fetus our genitals are the same. Our genitals form within the first six weeks. XX or XY chromosomes are the contributing factors to the differences in the development of our genitals. As we grow the male and female body begins to produce hormones. These hormones are testosterone and estrogen. Males produce more testosterone and females produce more estrogen. Our bodies produce these hormones and many others. Hormones affect how the body reacts. These reactions reveal the similarities and differences between males and females. This exchange process produces the differences between our biological chemistry (Spencer, 1999). Men and women both have the same hormones, but there are important variation in the hormone levels and patterns. The levels and patterns are determined by how each hormone interacts with the male and female bodies. All the way doe to the ego, testosterone is responsible for what sums up a man. Estrogen is the main ingredient in the performance of women. These hormones increase other hormones when entice with information, conflict, excitement, or emotional situation (Halpern, 2004). Estrogen increases oxytocin a calming hormone. The exchange of this process varies due to the infinite levels and patterns throughout the male and female body. As a rule, male and females react differently to situations. We may think a male reacts to

Although we are all humans, we have two very different genders a man and a woman. Each gender comes with a different body and ways our bodies react to things, as well the ability of those bodies. Even within the same gender there are differences in body types and what they are able to do. For example some women are incapable of having children, while other women have an easy time having children. Such as some men are naturally skinny while other men are naturally more big boned and heavier, also having trouble losing weight. There are women with these problems as well. The different body parts that a man and woman have is perhaps the biggest difference between the two genders and is often at the center of argument or debate between the genders. While those are major differences between the genders, the biggest differences is how our minds work and react to different situations in our lives. All those differences between genders also get added on by the diverse cultures and races in…

Men and women are really not the same. Their thinking, acting, communicating and many other behaviors are different. One can make broad generalizations about males and females. The primary difference between these genders is that men are resolvers and women are relaters. Being resolvers, men tend to focus on doing, resolving issues, finding solutions and solving problems. As relaters, women generally focus on pleasing, understanding, feelings, communicating, exploring emotions, making connections and being understood.…

“Describe the role of genes and hormones in gender development” Biological sex is determined by chromosomes in your genes. At prenatal development, only a few weeks after conception, there is no notable difference between male and female structure until the Gonadal Ridges, the structure which develops either female or male sex organs, grows to determine the sex of the baby. All prenatal babies have genitalia that appears distinctly feminine until at three months, hormones- testosterone if the baby’s to be a boy, and oestrogen if the baby’s to be a girl- is released and the baby develops into the hormone determined gender. For these reasons it is believed that there is a direct link between chromosomes and sex, and therefore sex and gender behaviour.…

1 Critical Review No. 2: His Brain, Her Brain Abstract As Larry Cahill 's article “His Brain, Her Brain”, points out there has been data showing a vast “...array of structural, chemical and functional variations” between the sexes; but does size matter? Lawrence Summers, former President of Harvard, thought so. Men 's brains are 13% larger than women 's brains, but does that really make them more advanced in math, physics and science? There are other anatomical variations and some of these are found to influence the way male and female brains work. Scientists have spent decades studying the brain and trying to answer questions regarding brain function. Trying to answer what actions are nature or nurture. Why do men and women act so…

In the center of the brain is the hypothalamus, or the “breeding center,” which releases neurons that in turn release hormones are unique to either sex. Puberty, directly affected by hormones, occurs in different rates in males and females as well, as females begin the process approximately two years earlier than males. These hormones also cause differences in outward male and female appearances, in addition to the theory of sexual selection over time (which suggests that certain characteristics are retained due to widespread…

His Brain, Her Brain By Larry Cahill To say that men and women are different wouldn’t be declaring anything anyone doesn’t already know, but scientists want to know why; through tests and research, studies have shown that our brains might be structurally, chemically, and functionally different. This raises the likelihood that sex-specific treatments might need to be developed when dealing with a wide variety of mental disorders.…

Gender Identity Paper Inside the human body there are hormones which are chemicals that release into the human body by cells or glands which have direct influence over other cells in the body. The system that regulates these hormones is called the endocrine system. Hormones play an integral part in the human body regulating many bodily functions from growth to the fight or flight reflex, puberty, hunger, sex drive, the immune system and, even human behavior. Two of the most commonly known hormones are estrogen in the female body and testosterone in the male body. The endocrine system in the human body is responsible for so much activity in the human body that if the endocrine system is not properly maintained it cause serious damage to…

Gender is the terminology usually referring to the social role between men and women. It is used to explain the cultural differences, more than the physical or biological differences. When referring to a person’s masculinity or femininity the term “gender” is used. The term “sex” refers to the biological, or medical differences between men and women such as estrogen versus testosterone, or a vagina versus a penis. The hormonal differences between men and women has always been clear. When a women is ovulating, she is hormonal. However there has never been a term for men since there is no physical change in the male body that promotes a hormonal imbalance. In a paper titled Sex and Gender are Different: Sexual Identity and Gender Identity are Different by Milton Diamond, Ph.D. explains how the terms have been interchanged in conversation, usually, casual but can be understood based on context. He continues to explain that in the scientific, medical, legal, political and religious discourse the interchange of the terms can lead to confusion.…

Men differ from women in attitude, physical make up, and biologically. Women tend to be more nurturing than men. Men have a physical body that permits them to gain muscle more easily so that they can do physical labor with more ease. Women's body are designed for bearing and nurturing a child. There is also the biological differences between men and women. Men are born with male genitalia and produce sperm. Women are born with female genitalia and are able to bear a child.…

From previous studies it is known that the Hypothalamo-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis is sexually differentiated. In females the hormone released is predominantly estrogen which provides negative and positive feedback to the GnRH neurons during the ovarian cycle. In males the main hormone is testosterone, which is aromatized to estrogen. This provides constant negative feedback to GnRH neurons (Herbison, 2008; Clarkson & Herbison, 2009). This leads to the question of what part in the HPG axis is sexually differentiated and whether it…

201259249 SUHYUN KIM In the past, researchers thought the reasons why men and women are different are social pressures and hormones. They also studied only male animals and male humans. However, recently, new research has revealed that the differences between men and women are caused by brain structure differences and they have effects on development of medicine. The research shows the brains of men and women have similarities and differences. This research also has implications for the development of medicine in the future.…
