For example, the author Susan Willis states that, "Visitors are inducted into the park's program, their every need predefined and presented to them as a packaged routine and set of choices (Willis 650.) It is believed that Disney World tourists often claim to enjoy the fact that they do not have to think about anything because all responsibilities have been cared for already. The reason it works is because the visitors know on one level that it's not genuine, yet it's real enough that they can also forget the actual world for awhile. If the world was like Disney, then Disney would be out of…

Our family’s favorite tradition is summer vacation road trips. No doubt, our vacations turn out to be a success each and every year. Throughout my childhood and into my teenager years, we have gone from the beaches in Florida to the valleys in California. The most memorable one I could recall was our vacation to Disneyworld in Orlando, FL in 2004. I always have the notion as child that amusement park take your imagination to a new and entirely different level. On television commercials and billboard ads, it shows that Disneyworld is a destination where dreams come true and magic happen.…

Most people think of Disney World as a place for children. So, when my boys began asking to go there for our family vacation, I wasn’t very excited. I had never been there and imagined me and my husband just following the boys around the park. Boy, was I wrong! Each of us had a wonderful time and it seems that we all remember things different, even though we were all together on the same vacation. Our five different memories have apparently come from our five different senses.…

When I visited Disney world I was seven years old, attending with my grandparents. I had never been so excited in my life. We took a plane to get there, and I could practically hear all the Disney characters calling my name. The two hour trip, which seemed like ages to me, was finally over when we got off at the airport in Orlando. I was so excited I just wanted to run off immediately and see everything there was to see, which is obviously impossible. First we went to our…

My trip to Disney land. The cost of the tickets was 95.00 for two adults and one child. Anything in your imagination can’t compare to the attractions you will see. The Mickey mouse landscape made out of flowers is just inside the gate. The landscape is remarkable every where’s I looked. The first attraction I walked to was the white castle where you walk through to arrive at the horse drawn ride which is a ride around some of the attractions. I was amazed with the president’s attraction, I went into a theater and sat down to watch a robot that looked like the real president, he talked about what his achievements were during his presidency, the challanges he defeated and the changes he seen. The next attraction I visited was the house of Mickey mouse, I went inside of an actual house, sat upon furniture, I seen many items in the house and in the back of the house there is a movie theater. After that you go outside to other attractions. I was…

Once we arrived, I expected Disneyland to be like the theme park that’s at home, Six Flags. From the parking lot, the parks seemed similar where the roller coasters, ferris wheel, and other tall attractions were visible from a couple miles away, the smell of the usual theme park foods like cotton-candy, popcorn, and funnel cakes was in the air, and there were countless of amounts of young families visible everywhere. However, once we all got closer to the park I acknowledged certain things that I did not expect. Although there were a lot of families which I expected, I noticed a different type of crowd. Unlike at home where Six Flags is swarming with many rednecks that live outside of St. Louis, this crowd was totally diverse with a mix of different types of people, composed…

Another very popular vacation destination is theme parks. Places like Disney World, Dollywood, Six Flags, Universal Studios and Sea World offer big doses of high energy family fun. Theme parks are most popular amongst families with small children. There are plenty of activities geared directly toward holding children’s interests. There is also something magical about theme parks that draws in adults. The sights, the sounds, but mostly the way they make them feel. They remind them of simpler times, like when they were children and didn’t have a care in the world. The benefit to these vacations is that they require very little planning. The only thing you have to plan is how to get there. Once you arrive at the theme…
