It is argued nowadays on whether teenagers, who go to school, should be wearing a uniform. There are many advantages but also some disadvantages, such as : All the students wearing the same uniform , which can take the stress off looking better than other students as they are wearing similar attire, and also having a uniform can make a person look smart and respectable, but on the other hand, students can feel that their uniforms are too boring and doesn't show their personailty or their style well enough, and that for certain schools, uniforms can be expensive, especially if it is a larger family they are being bought for.
An advantage of uniforms would be that, all the students are wearing similar clothing, so no-one will feel as if they don't look good enough or that they have to impress anyone. Students would probably feel this way if it were a non-uniform school, and would be under stress trying to buy new clothes every week or month to impress their classmates. So having a uniform is beneficial to certain people as they may not be as well off as other and won't be able to afford new clothes all the time.
I think this is a very strong point as i agree that students wouldn't feel pressured to impress their friends with new clothes, and that their parents would save a fortune with a uniform as uniforms only have to be renewed every month or so.

Another advantage of uniforms would be that they look smart and respectable, which can give the impression that the student goes to a great school, and that he/she is quite intelligent. Furthermore, some schools that don't have a dress code, their pupils look casual and it doesn't look like they even go to school. In addition to that, when schools have a non-uniform day, it can be more exciting because its a day where they can show off their non-school clothes.
I strongly agree with this point because students do look more sensible in a uniform rather than casual attire, and i also agree

This way there is no battles between teachers and students regarding what’s appropriate and what’s not. School uniforms can install a sense of discipline and self-control just like in the movie ‘The Wave’. School uniforms make it easier for students not to worry about what the latest fashion style is and if what they are wearing is going to make them stand out. This will also stop gangs from flashing their colors and standing out within the school grounds. Even though the gang members know who belongs to what gang and might not minimize the fights that occur on the school grounds; they are still somewhat controlled by what they wear. This helps the school by not having daily battles regarding what is appropriate or not for school. Uniforms can reduce the incidents of bullying and theft. If everyone is wearing the same clothes how can you pick on them? Why steal shoes or clothing from their lockers if everyone has the same shoes or clothing?…

The initial costs of purchasing school uniform may seem very high but if you work out the "price per wear" you may realise that this figure is very low. Students also don't have to be worried about what they are going to wear to school the next day and having a uniform means that school pupils have more clothes to wear outside of school. Many pupils will just forget about fashion because everybody is dressed almost exactly the same, this also helps parents of pupils because they also don't have to pay large amounts of money so that their kids can be "cool." Head Teaches may also be relieved at the fact that school uniform has been introduced because of the fact that pupils no longer wear divisive clothing such as football tops or clothes which identify the wearer into one group or culture for example a punk, a goth or a ned. School uniform also stops bullying as all the pupils look the same. Kids from poorer backgrounds have a more equal chance and don't have to strive for the latest designer labels or feel ashamed when people "slag" their clothes.…
