There are many strategies and techniques that could be used in the classroom to encourage curiosity in math, but the four I chose to discuss I thought would be the most beneficial. This is due to the way they support auditory, visual, and kinesthetic styles of learning. The four strategies teachers could use to encourage curiosity towards mathematics in a classroom include co-operative learning, guided or discovery learning, simulate real life experiences, and active student learning. These four learning strategies range from group learning to the use of manipulatives to real life experiences and group discussions where students can share their ideas and thinking processes. Therefore, students would be able to learn in a variety of formats like listening, seeing, taking notes, and by using their hands.…

The ultimate goal of Instructional Design is to quickly and effectively teach people a new skill, or system of thinking. Elliot Masie, editor of TechLearn Trends, suggests ¡§all training is about behavioral stimulation that changes human beings on some level.¡¨ (Masie, 1998, p. 14) This is a tall order ¡§to change human beings¡¨, and therefore, any professional instructor that accepts this challenge must ask plenty of fundamental questions first. These essential questions are part of a process known as Needs Assessment. This critical front-end work is going to 1. Provide information about audience capabilities and preparedness.…

I was really fascinated by the videos and articles that I read regarding creativity and problem solving in the classroom. I completely agree with the statement made by Anaisa Cunha that “Creativity is the best problem-solving tool in the classroom.” This creative problem-solving technique seems to blend critical and creative thinking in order to problem solve.…

The issues relating to the nature nurture debate is possibly one of the oldest theory debates in psychology (Bee 2004). Whilst nature refers to an individual inherited or innate qualities, genes and traits nurture in contrast refers to personal experience, and the environment for example although an individual maybe genetically tall if childhood was a time of malnourishment this could result in being short due to failure in growth. Bee (2004) however suggests that children’s learning and development are due to the influences of both nature and nurture, as we grow our biology program is to learn our social and physical environment provides stimulation for this to be successful. Across the first year of a major grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, with supplemental funding from Lumina Foundation for Education, CCRC has gathered and synthesized a large body of research evidence regarding strategies that may improve the success of students who attend community college. Working papers in the Assessment of Evidence Series use the research literature to draw conclusions and provide evidence-based recommendations in eight major topic areas: developmental assessment, developmental acceleration, developmental mathematics pedagogy, contextualization of basic skills instruction, online learning, non-academic support, institutional and program structure, and organizational improvement. Abstract—Individuals with cognitive impairment have difficulty successfully performing activities of daily living, which can lead to decreased independence. In order to help these individuals age in place and decrease caregiver burden, technologies for assistive living have gained popularity over the last decade. In this work, a context-aware prompting system is implemented, augmented by a smart phone to determine prompt situations in a smart home environment. While context-aware systems use temporal and environmental information to determine context, we additionally use ambulatory information from accelerometer data of a phone which also acts as a mobile prompting device. A pilot study with healthy young adults is conducted to examine the feasibility of using a smart phone interface for prompt delivery during activity completion in a smart home environment.…

I disagree with having a provided experimental online school. The fact that all the classes take place on the internet using email , online chat , etc., makes it difficult for students who are taking these courses online to gain social skills. Social skills are very important in a child's life. It keeps a relationship and also helps with work. Also if a child needs help with a problem or so , they may ask to teacher by emailing them , but they still may not understand the problem. With hands on help from a teacher I believe its easier.…
