Disagree With Animal Testing
“Animal advocates, as well as many scientists, are increasingly questioning the scientific validity and reliability of animal experimentation" (“Results from Research…”). As of late, it has been said that the animal experimentation has been shown that it is tradition and that it is not helping progress in the scientific scene. There are many concerns on how scientists and labs treat animals with the products and chemicals that they use, causing problems with animal rights. Luckily, there are many organizations and companies that do not use and disagree with animal testing and experimentation in the world, which help out animal rights. Animal testing and experimentation can be very dangerous to animals and scientists know that the tests will …show more content…
Even though many animals have the same DNA sequences as humans, this idea can be easily taken down due to how many animals actually share common DNA with humans (“Animal Testing”). The few animals that do share common DNA with humans are primates which, from the AWA, are illegal to test on for basic sciences and tests for any chemical research. Animals and humans are so biologically similar, they are susceptible to many of the same conditions and illnesses, including heart disease, cancer, and diabetes (“Judson 5”). The anatomy of animals and humans can be similar from the sicknesses both can get, but that does not mean you can take care of it the same way you would take care of cancer in a dog the same as cancer in a human. But, animals themselves benefit from the results of animal testing (“The Grim Good...”). Some tests done are for benefits of animals and animals only, such as prosthetics for a leg or limb. But, there is still more tests done for humans on animals than for animals. There can be so many ways to stop the unnecessary experimentation and testing and could help both animals and humans and animals

In today’s society, many people debate whether or not using animals in research is humane. An estimated 26 million animals are used every year in the United States for scientific and commercial testing. [2] Proponents of animal testing state that it has enabled the development of numerous life-saving treatments for both humans and animals, while opponents state that animal testing is cruel and often yields irrelevant results because animals are so different from human beings. Many different animals are used in scientific studies such as rabbits, mice, primates, dogs, cats, pigs, and cows. I believe that animal testing is beneficial because it provides opportunities to improve the lives of both humans and animals.…

Comparing animals and humans, we do have lots alike. Both often contract the same illnesses and diseases, and they suffer from the same health conditions as humans, some examples being: cancer, diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure. Although animals and humans are alike, that doesn’t mean we react to all illness the same. The Food and Drug Administration reports that 92 out of every 100 drugs that pass animal tests fail in…

Animal testing, also known as animal experimentation, or in vivo testing, often uses non-human animals in experiments to test the safety of products and has been a topic of heated debate for decades. Although some research uses animals only for natural behaviors observation, F. Barbara Orlans claimed in her book, In the Name of Science: Issues in Responsible Animal Experimentation, that more than sixty percent of all animals used in animal testing suffer from experiment procedure or even get killed in biomedical research and product-safety testing. On the one hand, successful animal testing can lead to medical cures and treatments for human beings, on the other hand, opponents are doubting the reliability of animal…

The practice of experimenting on animals has always been controversial. In pursuit of scientific knowledge, animal testing is essential, but as the word testing implies, such experiments are often harmful or ineffective. Over the decades scientists have had to choose whether to put morals over advancements, ultimately determining the fate of countless animals.…

Animals are usually confined to small cages and being exposed to harmful fumes for human benefit. In their “Animal” Journal, Elisabeth H. Ormandy and Catherine Schuppli claim that "the use of animals in research fosters a diverse range of attitudes, with some people expressing the desire for complete abolition of animal research practices, while others express strong support (392)." Animal testing has stirred up an argument between two opposing sides regarding the ethics of the practice. The two opposing sides are those who disagree with animal testing and those who agree with animal testing. Nuno Henrique Franco author of "Animal Experiments in Biomedical Research: A Historical Perspective" state that "Animal experimentation has played a central role in biomedical research throughout history. For centuries, however, it has also been an issue of heated public and philosophical discussion."(238) Those who are in favor of animal testing believe that it is beneficial to improving medicine. Those who are against animal testing believe that it is harmful to animals and that their are other ways to benefit humans. Being an animal lover, I oppose of animal testing for several different reasons. The first reason being animals are being subjected to all forms of suffering and isolation. The second reason is animals are not…

*95% of animals used for experiments are not protected by the Animal Welfare Act, the only act governing animal testing. Laws protecting animals need to include test animals used for experiments and these laws should be more strongly enforced. In order to minimize the number of animals used for testing and make sure they are not mistreated, the laws need to make it harder for researchers to use animals, making alternatives more appealing.…

Your lipstick is to die for. Literally. Right now, millions of mice, rabbits, primates, cats, dogs, and other animals are locked inside cages across the country waiting for the next painful and terrifying experiment to be performed on them. Before we conduct another experiment, we need to consider our treatment of others, both humans and non-humans. Animal testing is a form of animal cruelty that is no longer necessary or acceptable. There are many alternatives to animal testing that still ensure that the product is safe for humans. In addition to this, different species react differently to the same substances, so the tests aren't always accurate.…

In addition with no enforced laws, animals produce different results than humans. For instance, lead in w/transition “Even within the same species, similar disparities can be found among different sexes, breeds, age and weight ranges, and ethnic backgrounds” (“Results from Research…” n.pag.) The research people are doing will have an unlikely result in succeeding and or curing because they do not consider different characteristics of animals. Even with animals of the same species, there is no guarantee that all outcomes will be the same. Examine results show, “Animal studies are flawed by design. In addition to the fact that animals make poor surrogates for humans, the design of animal experiments is often inherently flawed, making it that much more unlikely that results obtained from such studies will be useful” (“Results from Research…”n.pag) The experiments we use on animals have no impact on human lives because even though animals have a similar body structure, they do not always correspond with the human anatomy. Scientists should put in more consideration with size, shape, skin, and different ways breeds function.…

According to some national statistics, nearly two-thirds of all animal research has little or nothing to do with curing human diseases or advancing human medicine. Animals testing prolong the suffering of people waiting for effective cures by misleading experimenters in the wrong direction, and wasting resources that could have been spent on more relevant research. Humans and animals may have brains, hearts, lungs, arteries, kidneys, and so on; but animals bodies are made up differently. Dogs for example, they walk on all fours; humans do not use four legs to walk. So to do an experiment that deals with animals legs compared to human leg would be a wasteful matter, dogs legs are formatted different.…

Animal testing is a very controversial practice, involving the testing of new substances on animals to see how safe they will be for human use. (Vasen, 2011) Research has uncovered many cures for deathly diseases through animal testing. For over 2000 years cures for diseases such as Herpes, Hepatitis B, Rabies, Malaria, Polio and other such viruses have been created, through the use of testing the chemicals on animals such as mice, rabbits, cats, dogs or monkeys. (Shandilya, 2011) Animal Testing holds much criticism, and gets much scrutiny from anti Animal-Testing groups such as PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) and CAAT (Coalition to Abolish Animal Testing). The controversy behind animal testing is that there are so many petitions against animal testing and some people go as far as to not consume products like toothpaste or…
