Disabled Man Persuasive Speech
A disabled man was missing for days before his decomposed body was found, and sadly, the last words he heard were from a group of teens laughing at him just before he died.

According to News 6, Jamel Dunn walked into a Florida pond following a fight with his girlfriend. He ended up near a group of teenagers smoking marijuana who told the man not to go into the water, but their warning didn't seem to be out of concern for his safety when the laughter began.
Cocoa, Florida police spokeswoman Yvonne Martinez said:

“He started to struggle and scream for help and they just laughed. They didn’t call the police. They just laughed the whole time. He was just screaming ... for someone to help him.”

Dunn drowned right before their eyes while they did nothing but make fun of him.

They didn't help, and they didn't tell, the teens just got up and left after Dunn disappeared underwater, not even bothering to report what happened.

The video the teens made showed up on social media and was reported to the authorities, but nothing can legally be done to punish them for standing by while the man died.
According to Florida Today, detectives identified and questioned them, but criminal charges are not likely to be filed against them because watching the drowning happen does not make them directly involved in his death, and there is not a Good Samaritan law that could be used against them for not helping him.

Martinez described the groups hardened response to Dunn's death after they were discovered:

“There was no remorse, only a smirk.”
The Brevard County State Attorney's Office said the video was a "tragedy," adding the teens had "no moral justification" for not attempting to help Dunn.

A GoFundMe page has been setup by a family member to help pay for Dunn's funeral expenses.

While the State allowed the defense counsel to view the video of the crime, it would not allow Beville to do so. As a result, Beville filed a motion to compel discovery of the video, arguing that access to the video was important for the formation of the defense’s case and the assurance of a fair trial. The State, however, claimed that if Beville saw the video, the CI’s identity would be revealed. The State further explained that there is “paramount interest” in not disclosing…

Facts: Twenty one year old, University of Wyoming college student, Matthew Shepard, died October 12, 1998 at 12:53 a.m. after spending five days in a comma due to massive injuries and head trauma in a robbery and hate crime assault (Matthew Shepard, 2000 [on-line]). Matthew Shepard met Aaron McKinney (22) and Russell Henderson (21) of Laramie in a local bar called Fireside Lounge. McKinney and Henderson had been drinking. The two led Shepard to believe they were gay and lured Shepard to their truck. McKinney pulled out a gun and said, Guess what- we're not gay and you're gonna get jacked. McKinney then told Shepard to give him his wallet. When Shepard refused, McKinney hit him with the gun. With Henderson behind the wheel, McKinney continued to strike Shepard. McKinney then told Henderson to get a rope out of the truck. McKinney allegedly tied Shepard's beaten body to a wooden split-rail post fence, robbed him of his wallet and patent leather shoes, continued to beat him and left him to die for over 18 hours. Chasity Vera Pasley (20) and Krista Lean Price (18), the suspect's girlfriends, hid the bloody shoes of Henderson and provided the suspects with alibis. Shepard's shoes, coat and credit card were found in McKinney's pick-up truck; his wallet was found in McKinney's home. A .357 Magnum was also found in McKinney's home (Matthew Shepard, 2000 [on-line]).…

Thinking that maybe there was a problem, Roy and Johnny pulled their gear back out and turned back toward the house in case they were needed after all. In the chaos that followed the group rushed toward the pool house to check on the wife of the man who’d initially sent the two paramedics packing. The group pushed ahead of the two men who could offer the most help if the woman had in fact ingested some pills. The family pushed each other and the two men as they all herded around the edge of the pool. Roy had not so graciously been shoved to the left and lost his footing on the slippery side of the pool. He unceremoniously took a splash along with the drug box. Johnny had eventually made it into the fray only to find out the lady had taken a bottle of aspirin and agreed to seek advice from her personal physician. Johnny fished the drug box from the water and offered his hand to his partner, but Roy hadn’t wanted or needed his help. In a normal situation this would be a call that would be joked about and a great deal of teasing would have followed. After the past week of unrest between the two friends, the situation only seemed to add fuel to the already smoldering…

PTSD or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a psychiatric disorder that can occur following the experience or witnessing of life-threatening events such as the military combat, natural disasters, terrorism incidents, or any major tragedy. This is common in the life of veterans and is the leading cause of suicide among veterans. A VA patient who survived in Baghdad shares his experience with PTSD and explains how he knew he had this disability. Many veterans speak out about this issue and describe their continuous anger, alcohol addiction, and constantly wanted to fight. They usually feel very isolated and distant from their loved ones. One patient states, “PTSD involves rocketing into extreme states of stress re-activity; in the form of terror, rage, and uncontrollable impulses, and plunging into equally extreme states of being shut-down—exhaustion, emotional numbing, despair, and dissociation”. PTSD is about having fear and anxiety, allowing veterans to rage with anger and different emotion. There are many factors to PTSD, which affects others in different ways; or example, using video games to keep them occupied, spending money due to the lack of impulse control because of changes in their brain, and even not obtaining another job.…
