One reason why digital democracy would make the UK more democratic is that it would increase the amount of participation, as citizens will be able to vote/express what they want more conveniently. This will also increase the amount of online petitions/ small referendums therefore there will be a greater realization of what the public wants and this could lead to strong influences on the government. This can be done through use of polling websites or other forms of Internet sites and which is much easier for people instead of completely going out their way to vote.
Another reason why digital democracy would work is through use of social media. Websites such as Facebook and twitter can be used for two key reasons, one it can be used to encourage participation, for example big political figures other influential people within society can encourage people to vote whether they are promoting political parties or just promoting a stronger democracy within the country. Additionally these forms of media can be used to start political debates in which many people are exposed to and can choose to join in, this can promote politics as it can lead to people becoming influenced by what is being said and as a result they could become more politically active people.
Digital democracy can attract a new group of voters such as the youth as they are the main group of people who use digital devices such as laptops and phones. In the UK we are undergoing a participation crisis and the age that has the lowest percentage of voters is 18-24 year olds, this also happens to be the age group in which uses digital/electronic devices the most out of all other age categories that can vote. If politics is promoted properly through digital use this can lead to a higher political awareness within this age group and can potentially increase the number of voters, therefore this could make our democratic system more legitimate.

Since our Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in her party's election manifesto pledged to develop a digital Bangladesh by 2021, it has given a great hope to the citizens of Bangladesh.
