Difficult Patient Reflection

• I have thoroughly enjoyed reading personal experiences with “difficult “ patients that my colleagues have encountered, as well as great ideas on approaching such patients.
• I’d like to share with you a “difficult” patient with borderline personality disorder, whose care I was involved with during my mental health rotation.
• X was a lady in her mid twenties, who presented to ED after slashing both her wrists following an altercation with her partner. During the interview she was quite angry with her partner for ‘abandoning’ her. She claimed that she often felt lonely and depressed, and needed her partner desperately most of the time.
