Different Cultures

ENG 111-S
June 7, 2007 Meeting New Cultures Meeting people of other cultures has helped me to become a better person. Some people do not know how to meet or become friends with people of other cultures. A lot of people need to learn how to understand the cultures of different people. For example, there are several kinds of people that you could meet, be friends with, and learn a lot from. I have encountered people from some of the Indian tribe cultures; as well as the Mexican, Latino, Irish, Pilipino, Dutch, and Greek cultures. I have changed the way I look and view other cultures because of my friends from these cultures. Meeting people of other cultures has given me a new understanding of how my friends have felt because they looked or talked differently from people who have grown up in the American culture. People of other cultures may speak different languages than a lot of us do. However, different cultures have to learn to speak English when they move to the United States. Can you imagine what it must be like for these different cultures to have to learn a new language? For instance, I have a friend who had to learn English when she moved from India. She still has trouble because of the differences between her native language and English. On the other hand, some of these cultures have different religions and some have similar religions, but their rituals may be different. People in the United States may not agree with some of these religions, but I do not think we have the right to take away any of their religions. For example, I have a friend who practices paganism. She has a hard time because this is not a recognized religion by most people. Most of the people I have seen from other cultures have a strong work ethic. These are the people who put in more hours than required, stay late to finish the job, and finish the job right. For instance, one of my friends is working two jobs to help support her

The conclusion was that despite such abnormal ways, the infants, at six months, still showed one primary attachment.…

I think there are benefits to having cross cultural relations. Every culture has their own principles and ways of intellectual; “by having an open mind to others’ point views, you open your eyes to opportunities’ (father). An opportunity to see the world through other eyes; maybe helping you see things differently, which could be better or worse, and making changes within yourself and actions. From what I had gathered my surrounds is that keeping an open mind to others is very important if you want to be able to distinguish, and sympathize with traditionally diverse…
