The author mentioned many critical points about racism in America that deserve to be addressed to the audience. I completely agree with the author when he stated that minorities in America have negative stereotypes about other minor ethnicities. A lot of people color one ethnic group with the same brush with one person's action. It is true that different groups…

The belief that race is merely based on the color of a person’s skin has been the most common used method for defining racial boundaries in the modern world. However, this is not an accurate representation of how human beings should be classifies. According to authors, Omi and Winant, identifying an individual’s race on the basis of physical attributes is the most superficial factor in determining a person’s race (2). These authors, unlike many other scholars in the world do not define race based on an individual’s physical attributes. They define race as being a social concept due to the fact that they recognize that the classification of race varies broadly across the world. As stated by the authors, “In our view it is crucial to break with…

In America’s history, the white people saw themselves as the superior population and discriminated against many different races. The majority of discrimination happened to be at the expense of the Black community. Throughout the nineteenth century, society’s views on race continued to evolve; some changed their previous perspectives after personal experiences with the African Americans.…

The issues in this paper are not just a paper; these are questions that I wish I could answer without prejudice. These are questions as a human being living in the United States of America should not exist in the year 2014. Supposedly is that the truth? With the evolution of time you would think racism does not exist in the 21st century. I was taught America is supposed to be the land of the free home of the brave. Is there a conspiracy in America against the Black Race?…

The reading about the indigenous people thought me how labels are used as an excuse to mistreat people. As the reading explain the term indigenous was only created to dehumanized and the over the land. Because the natives from American were not Christians they were not considered real people and with the help of the Pope, the European nations took over the land regardless that there were people already leaving there. It’s also interesting to see the used of indigenous as a nations, state or peoples. They should be able to represent themselves and their tribes and identify themselves with what it’s most convenient and useful for them. They need to be protected and be able to maintain their cultural identities.…

One thing for sure that I do have to say about this article is I could definitely tell that this article was written a good time ago. Many of the things stated in the list I felt were a little outdated especially the points that were talking about seeing mainly people of the white race in media or advertisements. Yes there was a point in time where this was very true but I feel like the world is doing a much better job at representing more than just one race when it comes to…

In stores black people are more likely to be watched and treated with suspicion by store employees concerned about shoplifting than are white people. Even with well-dressed African-Americans. White people walking on city streets cross the street when there is a black man behind them or to avoid passing a black man. Black may experience of having to wait longer to be served in restaurants than white customers who arrive after they do. It may take a longer time for a black man to get a taxi than for a white man.…
