Difference Between Appearance And Reality In Hamlet
The difference between "seems" (appearance) and "is" (reality) is crucial in Hamlet. Every character is constantly trying to figure out what the other characters think, as opposed to what those characters are pretending to think. The characters try to figure each other out by using deception in order to find out the supposed “real truth.” Hamlet takes it a step further.
