Diakoni Servant Ministry
(Question #4) Describe your understanding of the diakonia, the servant ministry of the church, and the servant ministry of the provisional member. (324.9)
The ministry of a deacon is not just servant ministry of the church but also the service ministry in and through the church. The deacon’s ministry is leadership in service, rooted in the historical concept of deacon, which means servant. The mission of the deacon is to equip others through teaching, proclamation and worship. This ministry embodies the relationship between worship in the gathered community and service to God in the world in addition to leading the church in ministry of services and specialized ministries.

Some of the members in the congregation say I think and live in high gear. They get tired just listening to the vision I have for the church. One area, which falls right in line with my gift of evangelism is my firm belief that it is the church’s responsibility to meet all kinds of people in every way possible RIGHT where they are.
Currently we are in the midst of building a multi-floor campus. This Homeless shelter will serve the needs of women and children and families. The campus will not only hold 250 beds, apartments but also serve women veterans, have roof top horticulture, a special needs day care center for abused children, training center for mental health therapist and counselor, offer drug rehab services, educational resources and a community garden. I get so excited knowing the “world” will be parked in our front yard.
I have been preaching, teaching, doing all types of inclusivity trainings, expanding different genres of music, doing different social outreaches etc. Everything I know to help our congregation see life differently and to hopefully expand enough now so that many evangelistic type ministries can and will be birthed to serve this population. We have only eighteen more months to get these up and
