1, write a 5 paragraph essay on the causes of stress in our modern society. Stress has become a common situation in our modern society. Nowadays, with the constant development of many social aspects, one day with only 24 hours seems to be not sufficient with an active person. As a result, people always have to confront stress, which is adversely uncomfortable. To be more specific, the three main causes of stress refer to career, relationship and health-related problems.
First of all, work and study play an important part in our life, but they are also the main reasons for stress. The high development of the industrial era coinciding with the more competitiveness among companies lead to a significant increase in the employers' workload. They have to choose between being unemployed or standing high pressure. Unfortunately, both result in negative feelomg, which we often call "stress". Moreover, not many people have a good time-management skill, so they must deal with the difficulty of balancing work, study and relaxation. In brief, someone who pays too much attention on career may be the victim of stress.
Secondly, while it might be argued that having a ralationship benefits human being, the truth is that failure in relationships is also a cause of stress. There relationships could be among family members, friends or colleagues. For instance, parents do not have enough time to spend with their children, colleagues feel jealous with each other because of the career prospect, etc. As a consequence, many people have pressure at work but even outside the working environment, they cannot feel more relaxing and comfortable due to the complicate relationships.
Last but not least, people may experience stress because of bad health. While physical exercises are really beneficial for reducing tiredness, people often neglect them and continue to confront stress consequently. On the other hand, a minority suffers some kinds of perplexing disease; taking sleep deprivation as an example, they always feel sleepy even in daytime. According to the scientific research, these people cannot evade from stress which is the symptom unless they recover from these unique diseases.
In summary, there has been more and more causes of stress beside career, social relations and health. However, they are unavoidable parts of our life, so the only think we can do is to accept that existing situation and find efficient ways to reduce stress as much as possible. In stead of feeling nervous, we should enjoy our life and always think positively.
2, write an essay in which you classify the types of entertainment you like the most .
Nowadays, entertainment has become an essential demand of people's lives. In order to enjoy lives people come up with many different ways to entertain themselves. As far as I'm concerned, I also have my own entertainment; therefore, I clarify my amusement according to its benefits.

Traveling is categorized the most common means of relaxation because traveling brings me a boundless inspiration. For instance, I try to save money so as to travel and discover many places, or I work extra hours to have a relaxing vacation in somewhere. The final target I want to reach; eventually, is relief my mind from the hustle pace of life or pressure from work. In addition, traveling not only open my knowledge to the world, but also give many good things which are useful for my life. Therefore, regardless of my age or time, I will never stop traveling.

I don't know since when going to the movies has become my regular recreation. As usual, I have a date with my bunch of friends at the cinema every two weeks. I'm always eager for the new movies being shown and then dress up to catch them in the cinema. In the cinema, I find interested in watching people walking by, some of them look secret or the others seem very open-minded, and finally all of these things attract my interest largely. After every movie, I go home feeling relaxed and go to sleep to be ready for my work tomorrow.

To some people exercise is a physical activity to keep them healthy, but for me exercise a dynamic entertainment; therefore, I always remain it by doing some sports regularly. Interestingly, I wake up early everyday by myself without any alarm, and then I rush to the aerobics class. I feel so energetic and excited about my exercise because I'm totally involved in one hour of moving continuously and crazy music. Like an addiction, I feel kind of unpleasant every time I skip class because of some unpredictable engagements. Fortunately, thanks to my strange enjoyment my body is still in its good shape.

In conclusion, entertainment is not served as means of entertaining any more, if we are aware of the benefits that we can gain from it. So that not sticking my routine activities entirely, I'm willing to get to know many other ways of entertainment to learn from it, and experience from it.
3-4. explain whether it would be better for people to work less and have more leisure time
It's really a controversial issue. Almost every human in this planet is now paying his/her close attention to the leisure time. Some are complaining with the decrease of leisure time and the drastic stress they are confronting, whilst some are bluffing their comfortable workspace and life quality. What on earth is the truth? In my opinion, most people are losing their leisure time and spend less in entertainment nowadays than before.

There is no deny that the rapidly development of technology and swift growth of working efficiency are far beyond that our ancestor could image. But in the same time, our total quantity of work or tasks has raised several times as before and so does the required working quality. As a result, most of workers and managers don't save any time, instead we put lots more stamina in our jobs. Furthermore, our children are much busier than several decades before. They are forced to revolve about homework, performances and tournaments with very little time left for amusement. And how can parents get rest when their children are working so hard? I think that's why the movies and songs relevant to work pressures and precious leisure are so popular among our generations.

Some people may enjoy their beautiful lives without worries about salary, education, hospital bills and anything else both in the presence and in the future. Let's ask ourselves, how many of this kind people are there in the world? There's a news published just a few days ago that one person out of ten is stun in starvation. Leisure is really not a common word in their vocabulary. 90% human in this days are still struggling for their lives or families, with only one wish to gain as much as possible to make life better.

What's more our rapidly developing technology has increased the scope of what we are capable to do, and also increased the desire of an affluent life, which is much more difficult to pursue. The more we try to purchase, the less leisure time left for us.

As a conclusion, I think the leisure time of most people in this era is losing if we don't do something to change it. We should pay more attention to the public welfare issues and increase more public facilities and constructions for all human's sake, especially we should focus on education so that we and our next generation will know more about the balance between hard work for desire and happy time of leisure.
6. write an essay on whether or not you think new technology such as cell phones , computer , and DVDs benefit our society . You must list at least three reasons that support your position
With the development of our modernized society, every twenty minutes there comes a new technology. It gives us a lot of opportunities to raise our living standard and to have more convenient communication. Therefore, everyone has become more and more reliable on new technology such as cellphones, computers and DVDs because of its huge benefits.

First of all, new technology has brought to us better entertainment. For instance, people can not only watch movies on TV but in computer and DVD player as well. The scene in which you have to wait in line for hours for a movie ticket is now in the past. In stead, all you need is a computer then enjoy yourself at home watching your most anticipated blockbuster. And hoping for your favorite song to be broadcast on MTV just makes no sense because it will be played repeatedly by CD players. Besides, computer games are also a source of relaxation, which help improve English skills and increase personal creativity. Apparently, without those technology, people will be bored roundly clicking the TV remote.

Secondly, cellphones and computers give more convenient communication. They allow people to contact people who are far away in just a blink. As a result, many profitable contracts are signed without having to meet but with the help of new technology. In addition to this, if it were not for the development of hi-technology, many companies would not widely advertise their products, which might lead to profit loss. Therefore, it is crucial we adapt new technology in our society.

Finally , Some argue that using new technology makes people lazier or affect our health. However, I see that its benefits outweigh its disadvantages. By just one click, technology will provide us with a wide range of information. So you do not have to stay for hours in the library searching for your paperterm document. In this information era, new technology is really a time-saving tool that leads to the effectiveness of our work.

To conclude, with the mentioned benefits, the advantages of new technology is undeniable. Despite this fact, people should also learn how to handle to make the best use of it.
7. In some countries , young people are encouraged to work or travel for a year between finishing high school and starting university studies
Nowadays, young people, especially virtually young students, are advocated to take a gap year after finishing high school to work or travel, before entering university. However, this issue itself may contains both advantages and disadvantages that young people have to consider before making a decision to do this.

To begin with, it is generally believed that spending a year to work or travel has many benefits to young people. Firstly, students would have opportunities to expand their knowledge and raise their perception, which is very necessary. Learning new more lessons about life and people in a wide community is a good chance for them to enhance life skills as well as broaden their overall view about the outside world.

Secondly, working or travelling would simultaneously give young people more experience about their future occupation, such as some fundamental working skills and competitive workplace. Furthermore, this is a perfect preparation step for students in order to help them to adapt with an academic environment.

On the other hand, beside these positive effects, it also has some negative sides which must be acknowledged. After taking a year off to work or travel, some of young people may not want to return to continue their study, because they prefer working in their particular job to studying in university. Moreover, many young students may likely be influenced by some bad elements, such as vices and unhealthy lifestyles, which are extremely dangerous for them.

In conclusion, work or travel for a year has both advantages and disadvantages for young people. However, it would be a very good choice for students who want to improve themselves as well as success in their goal of life.
