Definition: Dexterity Impairment (Arms/Hands/Fingers)

Reduced function of arms and hands makes activities related to moving, turning or pressing objects difficult or impossible. This does not influence speech communication itself but makes it hard to make a phone call or use a wide range of other equipment.

    This had a max of eight different telephone lines. In 1892 the first set of commercial installation of automatic switching equipment using the step by step mechanism was made at La Porte in Indiana. Various calling devices were used for a number of years. While this occurs these causes the dial spin to return to the starting position.Inside the body of the phone a centrifugal governor ensures that the dial’s rotation is moderated to a constant rate, with a shaft on the governor turning a cam that opens and closes a switch contact. One common and frequently used feature of today’s telephone systems is voice mail. If you can’t take am incoming call, voice mail allows callers to record messages which you can access at your convenience. An auto-attendant feature, useful for businesses, consists of a centralized recorded message to greet callers and direct their calls to the right numbers.
