Devil's Arithmetic Movie And Book Comparison Essay
In the book and movie of the Devil’s Arithmetic, there were big differences but small similarities. As it usually goes, I think that the book was way more impressive than the movie. Furthermore there was differences in characters, plot and even the main idea some. The book and movie I am going to discuss are both called the Devil’s Arithmetic. The book was written by Jane Yohen. The movie was produced in 1999. In the book and the movie the things that happened is that Hannah doesn’t want to go to the Seder to meet her relatives. She opens up a door and is transported back into 1945. At the end of both the movie and the book, Hannah switches places with Rivkah when going to the furnace so that she can live. There are a few similarities …show more content…
In the book, Hannah had a younger brother that was not even included in the movie. As well as the quote of Hannah saying “ I’m tired of remembering” was also not in the movie. In the movie she was in a tattoo parlor instead. In the movie when Hannah is transported back into time, she ends up at her cousin Rivkah’s house. In the book she not only met Rivkah in the concentration camp but was transported into a woman’s house whose name was Gitl. Likewise in the book Hannah was called Chaya when she was transported back into time. In the movie she remained Hannah the whole time. Again in the book Hannah worked in the kitchen with Rivkah but in the movie all Hannah did was dig in the dirt. The movie and the book of the Devil’s Arithmetic there are many differences in characters, plot and even the main idea. The book was much better than the movie, which was poorly done. I like the book better because it has a lot more detail where the movie lacked characters and detail. I would recommend this book to people like my mom who find the Holocaust fascinating but terrifying. The movie was so horrible that I could have done a better job producing it than they

Do you really know what went on during the holocaust well Jane Yolen wrote a special book about how life was like in the concentration camps which later turned into a movie. There are many different things that go on in between the book and the movie like how there is a major age difference and how Rivka ends up being her cousin. That is some but there's also many similarities like how Hanna still tells her stories to keep everybody together and how Hanna still sacrifices herself for Rivka. Well I think that differences or not they still both teach that valuable lesson that one after one the deaths were adding and one after one they were disappearing.…

One of the things that are different are that it talks about Bernard building his gang in battle school. Another example is that it introduces Bean when dragon army was rebooted in the book, but in the movie, Bean was introduced in the beginning. The final example is that in the movie, Ender found the queen after the battle near the base, in the book Ender finds the queen at the bugger planet that they were colonizing after a few years. This is how the book and the movie is very different from each other.…

In the movie Hannah is transported back in time just like in the book, to where she lands back in the holocaust. Hannah goes to the camp and meets Rivka, who is her loyal friend who stays by her side until the end. But one difference is that in the beginning of the movie Hannah assembles with Rivka instead of Gitl. Also in the book Hannah gets called Chaya, which means life, while in the movie they still call her Hannah.…

The first noticeable major difference is how the story is told. In the novel, Jon Krakauer writes from his own point of view, providing his own input and opinions on McCandless, while the film is told in his sister’s point of view; she is scarcely mentioned in the novel, aside from the fact that Chris was very fond of her. The shift in narrators in a way limits the amount of information that can be delivered to the audience. Though the narration by Chris’s sister adds a more…

S.E. Hinton was only 15 years old when she wrote this extremely detailed book. I liked her book a lot because of how much detail she put into it. I didn’t like the movie a lot because I was kind of expecting it to be a lot like the book but was disappointed when it left out many different parts of the book. While the book and movie have many similarities and differences, the book was more effective in telling the story.…

There is so much more I could write about in the contraction paragraph, but I would go on forever. I like to think you see my point of view of this and see which one I think is the better version of the story. If you have not guessed already, that I like the book a lot better than the movie. I guess if we watched the movie first, then I would probably like the movie better, but I think that’s just me. I like the book mainly because I am interested in factual things and this was like a narrative of the true story. I would recommend reading the book and not watching the movie because if you’re like me, then you will hate how there is a huge difference between the two of them. One thing I found out would be the Holocaust Remembrance Day is the same day that the camps of the Auschwitz-Birkenau were liberated in…

There are no huge differences between the two, but the movie does focus on different aspects of Minny’s life. For example, the novel does not put so much emphasis on Minny’s relationship with Leroy that movie does. The movie also seemed to focus on the important friendship between Minny and Aibileen. The novel, however, tends to aim focus at their separate stories and experiences. Overall, I believe the movie did a pretty good job with the portrayal of Minny’s character and circumstances.…
