Deviant Sexual Behavior Research
Question #7
What we classify as normal varies for each individual. Normal is defined as conforming to the regular, usual or natural. A relationship between a man and a woman was considered normal, and all of the sexual behavior that included kissing, foreplay, role play is considered normal. Normal is defined statistically, by culture and time. We tend to consider sexual behaviors abnormal or deviant, for example when they run counter to our religious values, when they make most of us wince (Rathus Pg. 506). I have learned that a deviant sexual behavior is when they involve the persistent preference for non-genital sexual outlets (Rathus Pg. 507).

One Paraphilia is called Fetishism, in which an inanimate object such as an article of clothing or items made of rubber, leather, or silk elicit sexual arousal. Women’s Undergarments, leather boots or high heel shoes are popular. Many Fetishists cannot achieve sexual arousal without the contact of desired objects, and that desired object was women’s hair. Some married couples may play fantasies out by role playing or engage in oral or anal sex, this by statistics is no longer deviant behavior. Some things that were considered deviant sexual behavior are classified as normal such as masturbation. According to the Judaeoa-Christian tradition masturbation was consider a sin because it did not promote procreation. There is a story in the Bible in the Book of Genesis that talks about a man by the name of Onan who was the son of Judah who was struck down by God because he withdrew while having sex with his wife. It was the custom of that day to marry your brother’s wife if he died in order to carry on the lineage. Since he withdrew from his wife and spilled his life producing seed he was guilty

Other paraphilias have a co-occurrence with transvestic fetishism (Lawrence, 2009). There is also co-occurrence of non-paraphilic hypersexuality (Langstrom, 2005). Lawrence reminds clinicians that non-homosexual male transgenderism can be understood to be an outgrowth of autogynephilia, however, the increased prevalence of the other paraphilic sexual interests in these men is predictable (2009). Predicting the possible presence of co-occurring paraphilias will give clinicians and psychiatrists information to develop a more effective treatment plan.…

Deviance, social sanctions, and the control theory are other sociological concepts observed in the film. Deviance depicts an action that disobeys social norms. Every character in the film is seen as deviant by either their actions that forced them into detention, or executed actions during the detention. For example, Claire is deviant because she skips class so she can go shopping, and during detention, she instigates a relationship with John. Allison appears in detention because she was bored on a Saturday, and during detention, she steals Brian’s wallet. Andrew is deviant when he smokes since he is a varsity-lettered wrestler. John is incessantly deviant because he challenges and argues with Principal Vernon, does not partake in school clubs…

One of the famous excuses of why the rape was done is that they were under the influence of alcohol. The male offender was attributed less and the situation was attributed more responsibility when the offender was drunk than when he was sober. In addition, participants derogated the female victim's character and assigned her greater responsibility when she was drunk than when she was sober. Sexual perpetrators usually consume alcohol before they rape a person.…

We all as humans have sexual behaviors; it’s something that is a part of every one of us and part of our humanity. Sexual behavior is with you even before you are born, for example a fetus can actually express some sexual behaviors. These sexual behaviors are more likely to happen if the fetus is a male versus a female. These sexual behaviors start to arise when we are all in our infancy stage. The development of these behaviors continues through our age. One thing that male babies have are erections even before birth a unborn baby can have an erection. Baby girls experience something a little different. Baby girls start getting lubrication in their vaginal opening and also swelling. This also happens before birth. The ages that kids start showing pelvic thrusting is at about 8 to 12 months and begin to masturbate a few months after that. Kids while they are young experience sexual curiosity and behaviors and it’s a completely normal part of their growth and development. One specific game that children play is a kissing game, this kissing game involves sexual stimulus. In the adolescence stage which is ages 9 to 13 is when the child experiments with masturbation and is the top key sexual behavior at this age. The child will continue to show sexual curiosity and different sexual behaviors as they become older and go into the adult stage. At this stage the male and the female will experiment with mutual masturbation. Puberty also takes place, once puberty happens then reproduction is a possibility and something that can happen. During adolescence women start to menstruate. The body of a woman produces something called estrogen and with estrogen production it causes to form women body parts like breasts. Men produce something different, its called testosterone and this causes genital growth and other male behaviors. The number one outlet for sexual desires in the adolescence…

Since I started attending college at the University of Wyoming I have lived with my sister Candace. She is a Senior at the University of Wyoming and is pursuing a degree in Elementary Education. We live together in our own apartment off campus. For the past two years, we have commuted to campus together. Depending on our schedule we drop and pick each other up to prevent riding the bus. Candace is often late to pick me up from campus when I tell her what time my classes get done. She is usually a few minutes late from the time when she was supposed to pick me up. For example this class gets out at four o’clock and usually she is there to pick me up a few minutes after four o’clock. Candace’s behavior of running late for things is a behavior…

A guest speaker from Southwestern College was talking about sex. This is not about sex education; the speaker was talking about sexuality and violence. Theres different way of having sex which are Good Sex, Sloppy Sex, Bad Sex, Regretted Sex, and Sexual Violence. Sexual Violence does not belong in the continuum because it contains rape which is a choice. Rape is someone taking advantage of another person sexually. Sexual assault can be verbal, physical, visual, or anything that forces a person to join in unwanted sexual contact or attention. Unwelcome sexual behavior has been a serious problem in our society for many years. People need to focus more on this problem, because a lot of men still don’t take it seriously, it happens, because they don’t know the real definition of sexual harassment. Alcohol is often a contributing factor in sexual assault especially when people are drinking, they may be unintentionally increase their chances of being sexually assaulted, as alcohol dulls our senses and our judgment. A perpetrator may even buy a person drinks to make them an easier victim. May people believe that the college life should be known as party schools. Downsides to the heavy drinking/drug use on today's campuses, colleges are taking an increasingly dim view of excessive drinking or binge drinking which is a major public health issue. Also, this increases sexual assault crimes such as rape, date rape and deaths. Though, many cultures have other vocabulary words for men and women according to the before and after sex chart. It has always been an issue for men to accept that females like to have fun here and there as much as they do. When a man gets around with the ladies, he’s considered to be a ladies’ man or to be more like a Pimp. When females get around with guys she is called a “slut” or any trashy names. This is why man gets all the positive feedback while the women still gets all the negative feedbacks after getting laid or having…

A deviant act is what sociology defines as an act or behavior that violates social norms and expectations. Contrary to popular belief, a deviant act does not just refer to criminal acts, like committing a robbery or murdering a person, it can also refer to things that go against societal norms like cheating on a test or dying your hair an unnatural color. One deviant act that I clearly remember was back when I was a freshman in high school and one of my friends told me that she was satanic. Many would consider this a deviant act because it completely goes against America’s sociological structure, which is god and the church. Another deviant act that I witnessed was when I was driving around with two friends and I saw that one of them had taken out some marijuana.…
