Some babies are born with different types of disabilities. They could be Down syndrome, Turners syndrome, Fetal alcohol spectrum disorder, and Fragile X syndrome or many more intellectual disabilities (ID) that a child could be born with. a. Out of the causes of disabilities that are listed in the first section, which cause surprised you the most? Why? (6 pts)
None of the causes of disabilities that are listed in the first section surprised me at all due to the fact that I grew up with a Down syndrome brother. So you say that this does not make since, when my brother was born in 1988, my mom did not have prenatal screening done and the pediatrician did not even think that anything was wrong with my brother. My mom insisted that something was amiss, so the genetic test was run. From the first day, we were all educated about different development

One of the concepts that I was not aware of about mental health issues are more probable to happen in individuals with developmental disabilities than in the general populations. Another concept that I was not aware of was that social restrictions are placed upon people with developmental disabilities because of poverty, limited opportunities for relationships, boredom, or a want of education; one of these reasons, or many of they can affect some people.
d. Describe in detail at least two new concepts that you learned about abuse and vulnerability (6 pts).
One new concept that I learned about abuse and vulnerability is systemic abuse. This is when you are as the caregiver is denying access to a suitable service that is needed to support their needs. Another new concept that I learned about is legal or civil abuse. This is when a caregiver controls access for these opportunities. For example, the caregiver might restrict access to the local library.
