Decisions That Made Me Who I am

In life we make many decisions. The three decisions that I have made that makes me who I am are the choice to be lesbian, going back to school for graphic design, and the decision to become a tattoo artist. I have made many decisions in my life like having kids and getting married, but these three decisions are the one that I made to become the person I am.

I made the decision to date females instead of males when I was fifteen. I was going to a small school at the time and it made a lot of people uncomfortable. I gave it a lot of thought and decided it was only fair to be true to myself. I had dated a few guys in the past and did not feel comfortable. After some careful thought and soul searching I decided to have my first girlfriend. We had not been dating long when I realized I was much more comfortable in a lesbian relationship. I am aware that not all people agree with being gay. That is why this decision is the biggest one I have made. I now have a wonderful wife and five great kids, because I chose to be who I am. I have to say I do not regret making this decision and would not change who I am if I could.

For a long time I felt like I had not done enough in my life. This is when I decided to enroll in online college classes. I have always been a good artist and love drawing unique designs. So it was easy to pick what degree I was going to get. By getting a graphic design degree I could continue doing what I love and support my family at the same time. The degree will also help me to one day open my own tattoo shop. I am now in my second semester of college and I am very happy that I made the decision to further my education. We have five boys and I hope that they will see how important college is and want to go someday themselves. I never thought going to college would be possible for me and now I know it is. I no longer have the feeling that I

One of the choices I made would be to be a more caring and helpful person. I was always both caring and helpful, but just sometimes and to certain people. When I graduated high school in 2013 I attended a community college in Pennsylvania for a semester. My thought on college in high school were “I don’t really want to continue my education for another four years”. That was until my high school counselor called me to her office seeing that I didn’t apply for schools. She explained that I wouldn’t be able to get a good job or ever own a house without a college degree, so that fear pushed me into continuing my education. My parents were the same way they also told me “most jobs would hire a college graduate over a high school graduate”. That was the final push towards the path of…

After graduating from high school I didn’t think about going to college, all I wanted to do was work, hang out with friends and play video games. So at the age of 17, I started working for my uncle at his liquor store for about a year. Throughout that time I attained a great amount of skills; ever where from management to customer service skills. With that being said, I thought about expanding; maybe getting a job elsewhere that will pay me a higher salary for the skills that I have. I applied to Liz Claiborne Inc. in North Bergen, NJ at the age of 18 and got hired as a product coordinator. I was so excited; I was only 18 and about to start making a salary nearly equivalent to that of a college graduate. At this point I thought to myself; “wow! I don’t need to go to college to make money”. I continued working for Liz Claiborne but after three years noticed what I had as a career wasn’t what really interested me, nor something that I wanted for the rest of my life. I was really just doing it for the money. Then, that’s when I realized in order to obtain a career that I always dreamt of, that college was something that I needed to accomplish. I started researching and asking myself questions like “why am I going to college? What am I going to get out of it?” then came up with answers, “if I don’t go to college I most likely won’t have a career of my choice”. If I graduate from college I will have an opportunity of living the American dream; a beautiful family, an enormous house, and nice…
