Descriptive Writing: The Park
Descriptive Writing
As you enter the park by pushing its big black gate you can hear the shouting of kids and the air is filled with the voices of people. On the left and right hand side there are many trees with people sitting under them reading books or having picnics. In front there is a path that goes straight and then divides into two, one going to the left and the other to the right. If you take the right path you could hear the shouting of children louder than before. There are kids running here and there playing football in the big field yelling at each other to pass. You could taste the dust in your mouth. Straight ahead there is a big playground full of small children on the slides and roundabouts. You could smell the small pieces of wood that are all over the playground. There is a big blue see-saw in the middle of the playground and on the left of it is a red and green roundabout going round and round like the wheels of a car.
If you had taken the left path you see a big cycling track that goes around the boundaries of the park under the big trees and ends up in a lap. Following the path you see a big lake with people fishing around it. The water is as dark as ink and indeed is very deep. You see children sitting in their father’s lap holding a fishing rod laughing and their fathers giving back a smile while holding the rod in case their children lost their grip. After crossing the big lake you end up in front of the same black gate that leads out to the main road.

Upon arriving at the state park, the beautiful trees of autumn welcome you along with the variety of faces unfamiliar to you, walking around care-free. The trunks of the trees were all sorts of sizes with multitude colors; the trees were particularly brown, like milk chocolate. While some trees were bare, others possessed a thick collection of leaves, fanning out like the mane of a lion. The collection of people walking among the fallen autumn leaves creates an everlasting sound—swish, swish, swish. The faint sound of the lake brushing against the sand murmurs in the distance, inviting you to…

The thick tree lines and vast open fields bring a sense of freedom and grandeur. The brilliant light shining like beacon of hope with the soft calming breeze flowing across the field is refreshing and pure like a baby after a warm bath. The air seems to be free and clear of the city’s poisonous air pollution and the soft sounds of birds makes it all too refreshing, like a beautiful day on the beach. With quiet clean monuments and buildings dancing across the landscape, the look of peace and quiet seems to be present at last. As the blue crisp skies begin to darken across the brilliant blue pond, the shimmering light hitting the trees is as beautiful as the sun setting on the Catalina Island on a bright blue day with soft clouds flowing across the sky. I have the taste of fresh fruit on my tongue in my mouth as I take a long deep breath, and realize how much the soft green grass adds to the peacefulness in the park. I can hear the cheerful wildlife scampering beyond the tree line, like young children frolicking in their mother’s front yard. As the quiet darkness sets in, and with the city brilliant lights in the background, the serene park makes the bustling city seem peaceful once…

The outside smelled liked autumn. The wind was gentle. As my friend and I walked, the leaf crunched below our feet. When we reached the park it transformed. One playground became the ice castle. That had snow guard guarding all around the castle. The ponds sparkle from the sun that was surrounding the castle. As for the other playground lit up with fire, from stone to stone. I raced the fire queen to my castle.…

As I strolled pass the creamy-yellow painted, wrought-iron gates, under me was a concrete pathway stretching and defining the parks orbicular shape. Rocketing across the water, the beach and sky blur into one. But in my mind everything is still, even calm in fact. My eyes dart around. I see men. Pain and panic fill their eyes. Some tremble as if catching a fever. Other soldiers clutch on to their weapons as if gripping onto their mother’s hand when learning how to walk. Some soldiers drink from their canteens, as if it’s the last drink to enter their bodies. I feel my heart race, blood pump through my veins. The Captain yells, “30 seconds! Good luck, men. As I placed my heavy backpack on the old bench, I feel tiredness coming up to me, as well as the sadness, because I have to spend in the park for an hour just to write some descriptive essay. So I grabbed my pencil and notebook and started to look around, the park was lonely. The sunset was not spectacular that day. The vivid ruby and tangerine streaks that often caressed the blue brow of the sky were sleeping, There are some days when the sunlight seems to dance, to weave and frolic with tongues of fire between the blades of grass. the yellow light was sickly. It diffused softly through the gray curtains with a shrouded light that just failed to illuminate. High up in the treetops, the leaves swayed, but on the ground, the grass was silent, limp and unmoving. There was me, sitting on the bench, writing this essay. It was a quiet Tuesday late afternoon and not many people appears, I sat there alone on the ancient bench, the cold wind blew at me, and down to my spine. As I looked up In the sky, it is transformed into a colorful horizon; filled with endless streams of orange and red.…
