Descriptive Essay-Personal Narrative-American Football
The date was September 29th, and the wind was blowing furiously. It was 50 degrees outside, feeling like 30 degrees due to summer just ending. The score was tied with five seconds remaining in the game against Delavan-Darien. I fell back into my safety position, staring down the quarterback like a wolf approaching its prey. As the quarterback began his cadence, I felt something wet tickling my arms as if little monsters were crawling all over me. The quarterback yelled, “set hut!”, and the receivers began running their routes. Out of the corner of my eye, I spied the slot receiver running a drag route across the middle of the field. As he crossed the inside linebackers, the quarterback threw the ball. Right when the receiver was about to catch the ball, I ran up and make a perfectly formed tackle above the receiver's waist at his ribs, forcing the ball to fall loose. The pass was incomplete. …show more content…
After he throws it, he yells, “Pass interference, defense, number 22. 15 yards, automatic first down.” All flustered over my split-second mistake, I became furious. When we realize that there is no time left on the clock, the coaches and players on the sideline begin game-planning for overtime. The refs decide to give Delavan-Darien one more play, due to the penalty. So, I drop back in my safety position as the rain begins to pick up. I know that the only way Delavan-Darien can score is from a deep ball to the end zone. Knowing this, I back pedal ten more yards back, just to be safe. When the quarterback finishes his cadence, every receiver takes off down the field. I spy number ten, knowing that he is their biggest, fastest, and most productive receiver of the day. I sprint over to number ten right as the quarterback throws the ball. Not even a second later, I jump up, reach my hands above my head, and hope to catch the ball. I intercepted

It’s fourth and nineteen, Tampa Bay’s special teams unit comes on, trying to pin Carolina deep in their own territory. “Hike!” It’s a fake! Tampa Bay’s punter drops back. He finds a double covered, third string running back streaking down the field. He throws the ball as hard as he can. The ball travels a total of three yards before an oncoming Julius Peppers snags it out of the air. “Interception! He’s at the thirty. The twenty. The ten. He could go all the way! Touchdown!” This was the play that capped off my brothers 56-0 beat-down of me in our Blackfoot cousins Madden tournament. Taking a moment to comprehend what had just happened, I stared at the screen in disbelief. The entire ensuing minute was madness. “You cheated!”, “That would…

Intro: its 4th and 5 score zero to zero, and I’m on defense. Coaches are giving signals and linebackers are calling the play. They called the play where I get to blitz the quarterback. “Poor kid’s is going to have to take ibuprofen after I knocked him out of his cleats” I thought before the snap. And that’s what I did. Lowered my helmet then I made him take a rest if you know what I mean, and I heard it wasn’t pretty. (At least for him anyways) but it ended up being the other team winning 8-0. So I was kind of disappointed that we lost, but the hit made up for it.…

Eighth grade year, gym class, flag football. I remember this day like it was yesterday. I had a fuming hatred for the gym teachers and their actions toward these pre-pubescent kids who take everything a little too personally, but with these rude teachers each and every reaction from each and every kid was appropriate. The only way I could describe these teachers is 40 year olds who find joy in making 13 year olds miserable. So, it all began when the flag football unit started. I wasn’t afraid of the evil humans we called gym teachers; I spoke my mind. Football was usually the last unit every year and every year the girls had to relearn how to play football, while the boys got to go play outside right away without an ounce of review. Because I am me, this wasn’t going to fly.…

It all started at ninth street with some friends of mine John and I started recruiting some people to come play football with us. I honestly didn’t know I had a pretty decent arm. I originally was going to start practicing to play wide receiver instead of quarterback. At the time Odell Beckham Jr. ( wide receiver for the New York Giants ) was extremely explosive and dynamic on offense. Seeing him blow up on offense made me want to try out for wide receiver. But somehow John convinced me to play quarterback.…

The crowd roars and the players clash on the field. Millions of eyes rest on an 100 yard long field. Pads crack and heads crunch. The final play of the game. Ten seconds left to win the Super Bowl. The ball is hiked and the quarterback drops back into the pocket, opening his hips and looking downfield, along with the crowd. What all but a few failed to notice was the injured lineman. Having been pushed backward he landed awkwardly on his back foot and proceeded to fall down and grab at his leg. As this was happening the quarterback spots an opening and hurls a ball for the endzone. Touchdown! The catch was made but the receiver was quickly blindsided and his helmet flew off. It was April of 2014. I had a month to make my college decision and I had no idea where I was going to go. It was between three schools, and none of them really stood out from the rest. One weekend my parents decided to take me to each school to get a feel for them. After a short trip to the first school, we made our way to Blacksburg. About five hours away, Virginia Tech was the furthest school I got in to. For that reason, my mother kept on trying to persuade me to make my choice elsewhere, but as soon as I arrived on campus, the choice became clear. I needed a school that had good academics, but was big enough to be relevant in sports, and Virginia Tech met…

The buzzer goes off for the game to start. The cheerleaders holding another poster for the football players to go through and when they come out, our school's band start playing the drums. Everyone is standing up cheering while I'm just sitting down just being awkward. The other team comes out of their posters and their outfits are really cool. The main color is a dark grey and the secondary color is a royal blue-it looks pretty chill. They start lining in their position on the sidelines and I see that Jordan is on the side which is weird. I actually thought he would've played something major like safety or something. As I'm shoving the buttery popcorn into my mouth, I see Caleb lining up with the ball in his hands. He is a quarterback! How…
